Title: Quick Dinner - Saag aloo
Post by: LouP on March 13, 2014, 01:29 PM
Made this for my dinner today (You may say lunch) and it was delicious. I used 3 tablespoons of chopped tinned toms instead of puree and boiled spuds in bit of mixed spice as I am out of Turmeric. I will be making it again.....maybe for tea as it was so nice :)

Inspired by your good looking Saag Aloo Lou :D

I put together my Murgh Saagwalla for supper.
So basically a dry scorched Saag Aloo, added and combined into a Chicken Madras hot bhuna style curry.

That looks delish Chewy. I made the Saag aloo again for my mum and dads friday night takeaway tonight and the usual Chicken madras and H4ppy naans (same for me and the hubby). Never thought of mixing them up though but thats a great idea. Lou x  :)

It was a dish that after all the hard work prepping you were rewarded with a nailed dish
So good I'm making it again tonight with a picture to come  hopefully before I scoff the lot

Michael that looks like a full bowl of pure pleasure  ::)  As this dish is a staple for me with a curry I'll have to give this a try and compare it to what I've cooked previously. Very nicely presented

Good looking Murghi Saagwalla MT  ;) :P :P

Did you use fresh Spinach and Garlic?
As I used frozen Leaf the other day and there wasn't much
difference in taste, but alot more economical.

cheers Chewy

Fresh spinach
fried garlic in mustard oil then added spinach and kept frying until water evaporated
The spinach more or less melted

As you said frozen would be just has good
I just copied you when used fresh when we met up  ;D

I'll have to give this a go  ;)

That's with fresh spinach wilted down. I've also used Morrisons frozen which was good as well. The (ibco ?) frozen spinach I got from the indian suppliers was awful.

And its boned and skinned chicken leg

And its my favourite curry ever only requiring a bit of boiled egg in it to tick all my curry boxes. (Thank you again Chewy :)  )

This had 2 balls of frozen but really needed some more.

Frozen balls are quite common at the moment

Back in the day most restaurants had an egg as an extra to go with a curry you don't see it nowadays, I quite often had one in my curry.

Ha ha, very good MA.  Some egsstaordinary great looking food in this thread.  I think Lou will be made up to see all this on topic stuff augmenting her original thread CT ;) Another one on the radar minus the eggs of course  :o
Never gotten over my adverse reaction to eggs in a curry when one night my phall appeared wearing an omlette overcoat  :o :o   No, it's just wrong, get rid of it  >:(
