Just occurred to me - do we have any lady BIR enthusiasts on the forum? Not that it particularly matters but it just seems that the search for the ultimate taste is left to us trouser wearers ( yeah - ok she does try and borrow my trousers from time to time and - yes - they do sometimes fit! ). ;)

Domi used to be a regular on here but she hasn't posted in ages

:-\ :-\ :-\ Didn't read the small print obviously SL. I assumed they were posted one after the other.

should've gone to Specsavers?

Wo apart from the aforementioned lady is it just ' bollocks ' here ? ;)

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Must have something to do with the drivel from somebody in another thread. Finding it hard to focus and getting dizzy going round and round in circles ::) ;D
-
You lot are gonna get me into trouble :D
-
Any women members have probably long since given a final exasperated sigh of "Men!!" and departed this place, sick of the prevailing testosterone fuelled alpha male position posting.
-
Yeah remember the days when we used to talk about curries
-
ah the good old days...
-
The girls are just letting us get on with it, cost they love our curries!
-
When you think about it, an almost exclusively male cooking forum is a bit unexpected.
I might start off a male-only shoes and handbag forum 8)
-
I can honestly say there is a few tarts on this site :)

Having just flicked through last night's drivel, that is a statement I would defy anybody to challenge. ;)

You guys are being far more rude and immature than those that you dare to criticise (in my opinion) with the somewhat annoying and pathetic attempt at presuming such innocence. At least the "discussion" or "argument" (on other threads) is about cooking curries (which is far more than can be said for this sort of diatribe and cheap point scoring).
If people weren't interested in such stuff, those threads wouldn't be so popular (and they clearly are)! Perhaps it's a little like "rubber necking" at the scene of a car accident ::)
-
Need help
What I want is a video of a person blowing a loud Raspberry
Thanks
-
Yes, that's really mature and will clearly make a point ::)
-
..... and thus another perfectly innocent thread gets 'hijacked' ( having been posted in the right board due to the fact that it is not directly curry related ). I do not see how my original post was in any way 'points scoring' and would repeat, no question, if people do not wish to read things on the forum that are not curry related then why do they look at them in the first place? Beats me. ::)

Perhaps you should take on board your own "suggestions" RD?
Don't look at, or respond to, or allude to, anywhere on the forum, those things that so displease you! ::)

CA - You've finally done me in! Your constant intrusions into threads to which you have nothing of interest to contribute is becoming ridiculous.
No doubt you have your own reasons, but you appear far from the guy described in this thread (http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php/topic,2494.0.html) from 2008. I would seriously advise those who, like me, weren't around the forum at that time, have a read at the thread.
What happened to that guy? You've made massive contributions to this forum and I, for one, have learned much from your recipes and comments, but your persistent carping about this, that and everything else is wearing to say the least.
There are enough loose cannons posting on this forum without adding to their number.

CA - You've finally done me in!
Oh dear! Well, to be frank, you and your kind have finally "done" me in!
Your constant intrusions into threads to which you have nothing of interest to contribute is becoming ridiculous
Intrusions??? You Pr*ck! They are threads in which I have an opinion to express! The threads sometimes have diddly squat to contribute anyhow (like this one!)
How dare YOU, or anyone else, suggest that I (or anyone else) shouldn't express their opinions as they see fit!
You've made massive contributions to this forum and I, for one, have learned much from your recipes and comments, but your persistent carping about this, that and everything else is wearing to say the least
Then shut your trap, take the bad with the good, and stop your bleating!
As you guys seem so fond of saying, if you don't like what someone posts, don't bloody well respond!
And YOU guys talks about "trolls"!!! Go figure! :o
There are enough loose cannons posting on this forum without adding to their number
Like you (but you're too conceited to realise it) >:(
Definition of a troll (to my understanding): those that post inflammatory posts in order to solicit an emotive response...and you sure has hell did it! >:(
Perhaps you and your colleagues should b*gger off back to RCR (where you can stroke each other with your welcomes, other platitudes and compliments)! >:(
-
OK, CA, have it your way. Must be lonely in that dark corner you find yourself in.
-
Dick head. F*ck off back to RCR where you belong ::)
-
As my wife frequently asks me "What's the point? Why do you bother?"...and, for sure, she has a bl**dy good point!
What's the point and why do I do it?
"Passion!", I say, and "Commitment!" (to this forum).
"B*llocks" says she! "Why bother? they ain't worth it".
She's right, of course (as you and your kind continually prove)
So I'll leave it to you more knowledgeable, worldly, experienced and "oh so very pleasant" guys to it.
"Good on ya!" (as the people in the Antipodes say ::))
-
I see we have lost another Lady
-
Dick head. F*ck off back to RCR where you belong ::)
Oh dear. Has it come to that? Well the original question was where are all the ladies? Pretty innocuous but seems to have ignited a fire under one particularly menopausal time bomb. ;)

On the "Glasgow Curries' thread I asked everyone to leave out the bad language.
My own opinion is that it doesn't matter how heated a debate gets as long as nobody descends to the use of bad language or personal insults. They're not allowed in the forum rules or in any civilised place on Earth. Post #25 is an example. CA makes some good points but how can anyone think it's acceptable to write something like post #25?
Admin can decide what, if anything, to do.
-
I don't think George people would not have minded if you had moderated post 25
I understand there probably would not have been a lot left of it though
-

That'll be the third time you've threatened to leave CA. I do hope you have the courage of your convictions this time...P.S. I understand Dame Edna isn't doing his/her tranny role any more, take it on CA, you're made for it pal. ;D

Hello curry lovers!
I am still here. Although I have had only a marginal success in creating the TA taste. In fact my boyfriend and I regularly go to the local curry house. We do try to cook at home but usually he is disappointed and says his curry is bland. One thing that has been brilliant is a recipe that appeared at Xmas time for curry puffs. My boyfriend regularly cooks these, they're easy, tasty and make a good meal. We did discover that the ingredients in the Jus-Rol ready made pastry were a bit alarming so yesterday I made puff pastry from scratch. Good result.
I will always adore eating curry.
All the best, Colette. :)

For me, I think that cooking BIR curries has similarities to the male domain of the BBQ. Keep back ladies, the Master Chef is in charge and in control. What mess? :P ::)
-
Well, I am a bit disappointed chaps. I

Just a thought guy's,
I'm not too worried about the lack of ladies on the forum, although I would certainly welcome them, but I am worried about Colette's post (Terramamba) and the fact that she is not achieving the results that many other members are enjoying?
Colette, could you maybe start another thread that explains where your gaps are? I'm sure many of recipe providers could point you in the right direction and help turn your 'bland' curries into something very close close to BIR/TA standard.
Lets keep you out of your local TA and get you back in the kitchen, creating the magic, eh?
Ray :)

Well said.

A common problem that can make a curry bland is trying to stretch the ingredients to 2 or more portions.
e.g. "i'll add some potato and a few peppers to this with a splash more water", Often its a bad judgement of volume in the pan, so we tend to over compensate.
I've done it a few times myself in the past and not just with curry.
I've always had a habit of cooking a 4 portion meal at a time so on occasion, my curries (unintentionally) ended up the same way.
How many times do you read of someone making a curry and having plenty left over for the next day??
Did you eat Any at all the first day? :P
The best way around this problem is to increase the diameter of your pan and NOT the height.
Or.. make very small Individual portions. ;)
Cheers, Frank. :)

Just what I did. Got a larger Sonex ;)

The rest of the quote is just as important Ruby. ;)
People need to think wide like a Paella pan and not tall like a casserole when scaling up.

Apologies, got carried away with the pre paste ' cut '

Slightly off topic and probably doesn't apply to Colettes problem, but i think it all helps and i really want to get this one in. :P
Lets say we were going to cook a big chilli con carne for the family. Possibly 4-6 portions.
The first thing we do is get out our largest saucepan, casserole, stockpot etc.. and cook it long and low.
Now consider cooking the same 6 portions in a large paella pan 14-16 inch across. ;) ;)
More caramelisation
More intense flavour
More surface contact with most of the contents on the bottom of the pan
Less cooking time required
Saying that, I would still probably end up using my cast iron casserole to cook a chilli ;D ;D

Nah. Job for the 30cm Woll Titan. ;)
