Many thanks stevejet66,

This new server is 3 times the size of the other so should enable the forum to load superfast.
Glad you like the new design and look.

Happy New Year.

wow Stew that didn't take long and the new look site looks great.

I am getting some syntax at the top of the page using google chrome which I've pasted below

$txt['pm_register'] = 'Send pm to new members'; $txt['pm_register_id'] = 'Select the ID of the sender'; $txt['pm_register_username'] = 'Select the Username of the sender'; $txt['pm_register_subject'] = 'The subject of the PM'; $txt['pm_register_body'] = 'The message of the PM (BBCODE)'; $txt['pm_register_body_desc'] = 'This is where you set the message that you would like to send to the user. To insert the username of the user just insert "{$username}". For forum name use "{$forumname}".'; // LimitAGuestsDailyPageViewsMod $txt['limited_views_remaining_singular'] = ' page view remaining today'; $txt['limited_views_remaining_plural'] = ' page views remaining today'; $txt['limited_views'] = 'Limit guests to x page views per day
0 to disable
'; $txt['limited_only_topics'] = 'Limit guests only in topics
In another case will be limited in boards and all actions (except vital actions)
'; $txt['limited_views_message'] = 'All guests are limited to %s page views per day.
We now invite you to login or register to continue accessing the forum.'; $txt['limited_views_title'] = 'Please Login or Register'; $txt['display_facebook_like'] = 'Show Facebook like icon in posts'; $txt['display_facebook_like_all'] = 'Show Facebook Like icon in all posts, Note Display Facebook Like has to be checked.';

Hi

I will look into google chrome to see what happening.
I am getting no errors in Internet Exploroer or via Safari on my Ipad

Not sure what is causing the issue, can you clear your cookies and try again?

Hi Stephen

Can you confirm that it works In Internet explorer?
It may be a forum bug related to google chrome so ill check with simple machines who provide the forum script.

Hi all,

I've sent a support thread http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=493761.msg3460817#msg3460817 (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=493761.msg3460817#msg3460817) to the forum developers so hopefully they can shed some light.

Got a feeling this may be related to the installed mods so ill try to clean up a.s.a.p

Are we not cr0 anymore?  :(

cr just doesn't have that ring to it.

and whilst you're in a replying mood,, how's about adding the Tapatalk app.?  :-*
Only just recently acquired my first ever smartphone and i can see the benefit Instantly with this app for forum users! And this forum.
There were two threads started back in 2011 requesting this with no reply so i thought i would remind you on the shoutbox just incase you missed them.  ;)
But Still no reply.

So how's about it then Stew?
Cheers, Frank.  :)

Hi DalPuri,

We are still curry recipes online but just with a better domain name.
I have looked at the tapatalk app but it does cost some cash to implement. if we think its worth doing ill look more closely again and cast a poll.

Best regards,

Just a question, Stew, why, when we (you) have a section of the (your) forum called "administration", are we (you) posting all of this stuff in "talk about anything other than curry"?

Is it any wonder why the forum is (structurally) all over the place?  ???

And, if the answer is that you don't understand the layout of the forum, why don't you change it/simplify it?

Oh, and thanks for the new pop up ads, much appreciated  ???

But, granted, it seems (so far) faster.  Any other member benefits?

Have you tried emptying Chrome's cache and stuff?

When i first navigate to curry-recipes.co.uk the page completely fills my screen.  I hope this makes things a bit clearer

I've just cleared my Firefox cache in its entirety and the code still persists at the top of each page:

We now invite you to login or register to continue accessing the forum.'; $txt['limited_views_title'] = 'Please Login or Register'; $txt['display_facebook_like'] = 'Show Facebook like icon in posts'; $txt['display_facebook_like_all'] = 'Show Facebook Like icon in all posts, Note Display Facebook Like has to be checked.';

Oh! And the pre-posting Preview function didn't work for me, in case anyone else has the same problem.

Hi Admin

BTW, good job on moving sites. New version looking very nice. Guess just a couple of 'teething' problems.

In case it helps...

The issue happens on all the up to date browsers that I have installed (Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer).

You must be logged in as a registered user for the issue to show, such as via this page: http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php?action=login (http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php?action=login)

When you are logged in, the following PHP code is inserted into the page missing its code start and end tags "<?php and ?>" and so is sent to the browser as HTML mark-up and not processed on the server by PHP.

Try searching your code for this string "'Send pm to new members';" for example to narrow down / find the file / include / offending code that is causing the issue. I can't really help much more without having access to the code etc.

Hope it helps!

Below is what is sent to the browser before the proper HTML mark-up starts. This is code that should be processed by the server and not sent to the browser as text:

$txt['pm_register'] = 'Send pm to new members';
$txt['pm_register_id'] = 'Select the ID of the sender';
$txt['pm_register_username'] = 'Select the Username of the sender';
$txt['pm_register_subject'] = 'The subject of the PM';
$txt['pm_register_body'] = 'The message of the PM (BBCODE)';
$txt['pm_register_body_desc'] = 'This is where you set the message that you would like to send to the user. To insert the username of the user just insert "{$username}".  For forum name use "{$forumname}".';
// LimitAGuestsDailyPageViewsMod
$txt['limited_views_remaining_singular'] = ' page view remaining today';
$txt['limited_views_remaining_plural'] = ' page views remaining today';
$txt['limited_views'] = 'Limit guests to x page views per day<div class="smalltext">0 to disable</div>';
$txt['limited_only_topics'] = 'Limit guests only in topics<div class="smalltext">In another case will be limited in boards and all actions (except vital actions)</div>';
$txt['limited_views_message'] = 'All guests are limited to %s page views per day.
 We now invite you to <a href="' . $scripturl . '?action=login">login[/url] or <a href="' . $scripturl . '?action=register">register[/url] to continue accessing the forum.';
$txt['limited_views_title'] = 'Please Login or Register';

$txt['display_facebook_like'] = 'Show Facebook like icon in posts';
$txt['display_facebook_like_all'] = 'Show Facebook Like icon in all posts, Note Display Facebook Like has to be checked.';

No real probs here.  The text seems slightly bigger than before, which is good.  The appearance overall though is lacking in colour intensity (e.g. the little user name red peppers).  The forum top banner could also do with a re-design; looks a bit empty, odd font, and takes up a lot of space, for whats on it at the moment.  Running super fast though.  Appreciate the work involved.  Have we got some more mods?

Admin

Works fine on Mac (of course it does) :) running Firefox and Safari and fast ;)
The index page, isn't mobile device friendly, but the forum part works fine.

The chosen Citiez theme by DzinerStudio is the weakest theme imho, as its vaguely
supposed to represent Urban/Street graphically, the drab tiled background is too flat
and boring and the way you've edited the header has killed the theme altogether.

A subtle 70's flock wallpaper background tile and a spicy/curry related header, would
give it much more appeal (eye candy)

cheers Chewytikka

Hi,

The issue appears to be something in the language files, some people are set in their profile to a different language. As soon as you change that deafult setting away from Albanian you get the error code.

I Think i will need to do a fresh install of the forum, so the site might go offline tonight for a while unless the developers come up with a fix.

All the best

Please can you try this fix which for somereason works, please can you change your deafult language to ENGLISH BRITISH and see if this fixes for you.

Goto your profile and select the dropdown preferred language as English Britishs as follows;

Quote
Profile -> Account Settings -> Preferred Language -> English British
Can you tell me if this works?

Sorry if this has already been mentioned but I seem to have lost the 'new' post boxes. Or rather I just have an empty square box to indicate a thread has new posts. Hope that makes sense and happy new year to you all.

Has there been a change made today? This morning the "recent topics" page was working. Now every page of the 10 pages on offer are all blank. Link is:

http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php?action=recent;start=10 (http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php?action=recent;start=10)

EDIT: cancel that - I'm being a fool - it was simply that I had Somehow been logged out of the forum and those pages appear inaccessible to guests. All working now

Hi natterjack, all working fine my end mate, i must say though for some unknown reason the site seems extremly slow again.
Part of the reason for the slowness is the number of off-site URLs referenced, most if not all of which appear to be to do with advertising, activity tracking, and so-called "social networking" : I have made a very significant improvement to the speed with which the site loads for me by routing all of the following to a local server :

192.168.0.200 pagead2.googlesyndication.com
192.168.0.200 m.thisedge.com
192.168.0.200 static.ak.fbcdn.net
192.168.0.200 plusone.google.com

I am sure there are many more that could usefully be eliminated.

"Level spoons", Sir ?  Damn your eyes : there are no "level spoons" in this house, and there never will be so long as I remain master.

[size=78%]Please can you try this fix which for somereason works, please can you change your deafult language to ENGLISH BRITISH and see if this fixes for you.[/size]
[size=78%]Stew[/size]

That's sorted it, thanks Stew.

One thing though (which did occur on previous format), if I quote a post and delete a line or from the text, the editor automatically converts the remaing text to 78% size. It's quite annoying as it only converts text after the delete point and not all the text.

Any chance you could look into this please?
