I totally agree with SS on the use of accurate measurements. There are enough variables in even a well written recipe without compounding things further.

Sure when you know what you are cooking and have made something many times you won't need that level of accuracy but a recipe is a form of communication and should be as accurate as possible.

When I made ifindforu's base sauce I used double the spicing due to confusion over the size of chef spoon and really I wasted a lot of time.

I've got a Hofner Shorty 6 string electric as a stop-gap until I can get a Yamaha Pacifica for about

Thanks for the replies, I agree with the figures from Axe for 55.5 ml oil making a curry with 250 ml base from a 9 litre finished base.

I've got a figure of 8 Kcals per ml of any oil or fat so I get 444 Kcals for the oil in a curry. That sounds fine to me, I'll have to make this when I get a chance.

Cheers

Paul do you mean how much oil goes in the pan to cook the dish,

Hi Steve, no I understand no extra oil is used at the dish cooking time.

This looks really interesting, thanks to the OP for posting.

Does anybody know what the finished volume of base sauce is and how much to use for a single curry. I'm assuming about 250ml for the latter.

I just want to do the sums for the amount of oil per curry.

I gave up 14 months ago after taking the prescription Champix drug for 3 months.

I don't really miss them anymore and I'm hoping to never smoke again.

Bloody hell looks like I kicked the hornets nest. I did not post this to antagonise anybody I was merely trying to share my experience of this recipe. I didn't realise that this forum was so political.  ::)

Don't worry about it Eddy. You can't be expected to know that the other forum was formed years ago by a member of cr0 who decided to create a rival forum and took a few cr0 members with him.

It happened years ago before I joined both forums. It was a long time before I read enough old posts to realise the history of cr0 and then rcr.

Most of us are not interested in forum wars, we just like to try to make decent curry.

Might come in handy for the noobs like myself ???

Sorry what I really meant was if it is a cut and paste job from RCR, the other curry site then it may be a copyright breach. I suppose by using Chewy's base and not the RCR melting base you might be ok but I'm no expert.

The melting base gravy is a bit of a giveaway that it comes from RCR.
