Fixed rubbish on T.V. really gets my goat! They will go to any lengths to entertain viewers. I would have loved for the BIR to win hands down and tell the celeb chef to go and get it pumped! ;D

Breads (Naan, Puri, Chapatti, Paratha, etc) / Re: CA's Naan Bread (Illustrated!)
February 18, 2008, 09:43 AMQuote from: ast on February 18, 2008, 07:19 AMThis is exactly my motivation for the question. Heating bread from frozen just doesn't yield the same freshness as cooking fresh. Thanks Ast, I am very interested to find out how you get on.
As for microwaving naan, I've done it, and I'd do it for just us, but I wouldn't do it for guests. I've never been able to heat bread of any kind in the microwave without it not being the same as being fresh.

I notice that you mention that the cooked nans can be frozen. Could the dough be frozen and used at a later date?

Curry Base Chat / Re: Who believes there is a secret ingredient to the curry base?
February 17, 2008, 12:44 PMQuote from: Secret Santa on February 17, 2008, 09:49 AMIt suggests that it comes from the heat involved in the cooking process.
That may be the case but it doesn't really explain where the "tatse" and "smell" come from as you get that if you have your curry in a takeaway plastic or foil container.

Talk About Anything Other Than Curry / Re: new look

Yes, I noticed that and think I have a fair idea why. When Stew finishes implementing his changes, will the links to the archived recipes work, or still be missing / off limits to standard members? If it is the later, may I suggest that the recipe titles just don't appear at all? No one likes a dead link!

Cooking Equipment / Re: Wahl spice/coffee grinder
February 15, 2008, 10:15 PM
I use a Bosch Coffee grinder and have had no issues grinding cumin seeds or any other spice for that matter. I put a crack in the lid when I was p**h*d and dropped it though
Still works a treat - I find Bosch stuff to always be pretty heavy duty. Good manly products like car parts and no nonsense appliances. Not like that feminine bit of kit you got on Amazon! Are you sure that thing's a grinder and not something else? I've never heard of one that takes 2 AAs ;D
I'm just kidding - looks much smarter than mine!
