I also find my korma's to come out consistently with very little variation in flavour and texture. I would call this consistency, but if we are to look into the real meaning of the word, then I don't really go all the way as even my favourite TAs and restaurants never really been consistent.

When you mention the term 'spice mix,' does that consist of specific brands of spices or is there any room for adjustment when taking their availability into consideration?

Welcome Phall_me_up! The spice mix recipe for phal is here:

If you are trying to figure out whether, say, schwartz turmeric vs rajah turmeric is important, I don't think the underlying brand is important, but then again I have not really tried to find the differences (though tried both schwartz and rajah turmeric powder and I noticed no differences taste or smell wise)

Thanks guys. So the double-concentrated tomato puree is what I call tomato paste and comes in those tubes. All good then. :)

Do give it a try, because you'll get a quite different taste experience using watered down tomato puree cooked in the way I described over simple blended plum tomatoes.

Thanks spicyokooko. I will definitely give it a try :)

Only had one curry in Leicester late last year.  Wasn't great; waffle here:

Leicester apparently has some top BIRs though. Let us know how it goes Ruby.

Rob  :)

That review was really well written, your writing style is really good and I admire your ability to keep your cool even at the face of a rubbish job.

However, it appears RubyDoo is looking for a restaurant around the London (Leceister station) not midlands :)

Scratch that. I am confused. it's actually leicester midlands, apologies, I just saw "the curry house" is in the "london road" in leceister, which obviously only added to my confusion! :(

curryhell, that jalfrezi looks gorgeous! I'm not sure the rice was part of the task, but IMO bombay aloo is a better match for jalfrezi :)
