Great well thought out post Ian. S,

Just picking up on your point about Brown Gravy, i ordered a takeaway on Sat (Prawn Balti) the sauce was very dark brown, thick and had a really strong beefy oxo type taste and smell.  Not very enjoyable at all.

I have never seen this before and it does not work.
In addition the girl had a Chicken Rogan, which again did not have the tatse at all.  Very dissapointing and I really believe i could have done a better job.

I still have not contributed from a chat to a curry man as yet but its on the cards shortly.

Great idea as well to add the curry house name and location.....

Lets Talk Curry / worth a shot?
May 09, 2005, 11:59 AM
Dear All,

I just found this website through the google links at the top

http://www.anupamspice.co.uk/index.php

Its worth a look and maybe a gamble, as it appears they are a restaraunt selling spice mixes.
There are also some interesting recipes for Madras and online Video's demostrating the cooking process.

I can't view the videos yet but if some one else does please report back.
It might be worth giving this a go?

Any thoughts

graeme,

A lot of the dishes he makes are traditional, not what we would purchase in a takeaway.
I learned a lot from his show and watch it all the time on the cooking channel.  In addition i also think "Coconut Coast" is a really good show and more up to date....you can learn a lot from that as well...

CK,

I have been using the Jars you can purchase in Tesco, both Garlic Puree and Giner Puree.  Ive never really bothered with fresh and i am happy with my results.
Its only like ?2 for a jar.
