OK, someone cooks a nice base posted on here followed by the final dish recipe, With all the ingrediants for the base, and all the ingrediants for the final dish, they go together well for a reason! Why cook someones elses base recipe and then add someone elses mix or wonder off into another direction, Isnt the aim to make a combination so both match, Its like going to a wedding in a suit and tie but then wearing jogging bottoms instead of the trousers that match the suit, Thats why so many are getting total mismatches and not the right taste,
Cant wait to have custard on my sunday roast! ???

Yes i use east end, nacto, and my favourite so far is mangal masala mix's, They are spot on. And by far the best, They do a whole range, of mix spices. You can google it, I use  mangal kitcken king masala in the base, Amongst other spices and chana masala in a curry dish, You will find my base and dish recipe in the base curry recipe section. These are the commercial spices i use. cant be doing with all the dry roasting and grinding nonsense. Regards better results using commercially made powder mix i would say 100% better.
Ask yourself would  a bir chef stand there all day mixing/grilling/grinding a ton of mix powder spices for the week, LOL,,,,Its all about making notes,,,, i know i wouldnt want to. :'( well the notes yes ;D

Hi meggeth, c2go base is not a very good base, trust me ive tried it on two occasions, good bases are  CBM,TAZS,CA,KD, birs use commecially made mix's, less time consuming more profitable, that why i use them. you may benifit from trying them so it gives you a bit more time to get your base recipe right, just a thought.

Paprika im not keen on, it leaves a dish dry and grainy, I prefer ready made mixs, you cant go far wrong,
i always use mangal masala mixs as they do a great range.

That curry was awesome, looked smelled and tasted like one from a pukka restaurant. The rest of the blokes at work all had a dip and agree . Believe me they eat a lot of curry and aren't easily pleased but think it was superb.

Thanks again
Rich

Hi roger, ive tried julians base and im not very impressed with it to say the least!, i did cook it twice and still wasnt happy, As curryhell has said kd was a base, a good starter base at that! cbm was a very good base and ive also tried taz'z base and that was very good too, ive played around using various bases and have now got a base sauce that suits me, there are loads of base recipes on here and all i can suggest is go through them each week, give them marks out of ten for each one you cook, if it works work around that to suit you.

I try to judge as a chef would do not pin point accuracy, after all its about ones self judgement of what a tsp is on a chefs spoon, creativness, George,,,, its not being sloppy its called practicing your skills. A jet engine on the other hand George is another thing, you wouldnt want your curry exploding at 120,000 rpm on the cooker would you ! ;D
