Cayenne Chiles :)

Tonight I have made seed pots with.

Cayenne Chiles
Basil
Coriander
Fennel
Fenugreek
Mustard

All in the boiler cupboard just now... will be interesting to see what ones sprout up :D

Usually it is a case of it just tastes better when you have been away from the stove for a while - if you make one really quickly it is great, but if you are doing a marathon cook such as base cooking and then several dishes I very rarely enjoy sitting down my curry - especially knowing I have dishes to do :(

Sometimes I like to make my dish. Cover it up and put in fridge. clean up etc then come back a few hours later - blitz it in the microwave - heat a balti up till it is sizzling then whack the curry in and can anjoy it smoking and sizzling with a beer without the worry ahead of me.

Also... Is this an usual english way of making Pakora? In scotland pakora is made like Bhajis where everything is chopped up in small pieces  - peas, potato, green pepper and other veg etc. But a few times I ordered pakora in england it was whole pieces veg battered and fried which was strange to me.

Interesting with the Cardamom seeds - is that not a little overpowering in there? Not a spice I would imagine in Pakora  :)

well bugger me! I'll have to visit Kama Sutra next time I'm up in Glasgow ;)

gives a whole new meaning to eating out..... :D (sorry!...I know it's a bad line but I just can't help meself :-[ )

I wouldn't bother - Kama Sutra is just five mins walk from my office here - awful :( My office is right in the middle of the Glasgow curry district so to speak so I have tried pretty much every place - and I always visit a place at least twice before making judgement.

Let's face it, you're never going to come up with a base recipe to suit all people, otherwise we'd all eat at the one same restaurant....either that or we'd end up with an Indian chain like McDonalds :o Gawd! it makes me shudder to think of it :-X :P

We already have a Indian chain like McDonalds in Scotland

Harlequin Lesuire

http://www.harlequinrestaurants.com/

Apart from one or two of their restaurants which they "aquired" which retain their own culinary tastes, the rest of their places taste identical to me, and taste like Indian fast food.

Their "Ashoka Shak" chain are small McDonalds sized huts which sit along side McDonalds in retail parks, cinema complexes etc.

One of their restaurants  "Masala Jaks" is a wild west theme indian restaurant

http://www.harlequinrestaurants.com/restaurants/masala_jaks_the_quay.php

QuoteBack in the Great American Gold Rush of 1849, thousands of prospectors headed to the USA to panhandle for gold. Many found fortunes, thousands died, a few found fame, but perhaps the most famous of all was Jagir Singh, known as 'Masala Jak', who left the Punjab for the USA. Jak found no gold, but did find fortune when he introduced the cowboys of the Wild West to the delights of Indian Cuisine. His fame travelled across America, a legend was born. Old tales tell that the words 'Masala Jak' derived from Mister Jagir Singh, maybe true...maybe not...

Simply sit back and enjoy the Curry, as it would have been served in the Wild, Wild West...

Adil sits on Stoney Lane which runs adjecent to Ladypool road - Adil reports as being the first in the full Sparkbrook area - a claim the locals back up - and even Pat Chapman backs up in his Balti cookbook.

I have been to a few in the area and Adil was best I think.

This is the establishment that holds the original and oldest claim to being the first "Balti" house in birmingham.

Can I first say - coming from Glasgow I live on curry either in restaurants of my own creations so I know what to expect from one.

Well first walking in - time warp - flock wallpaper, varnished wood walls.

Food is absolutely tremendous.

I had the Balti Garlic Chilli Chicken - the consistancy of the sauce was so good. Smell delicious and taste out of this world.

Amazing.
