Well we are still alive but - 3 mins on full in 800+kw only thawed it out. It needed another 3 mins to get it piping and steaming. Tasted good though and kept right shape etc.

Some very similar on Fleebay but only 4mm.  Always thought it is better to be better in the girth than the length..    ;D  Joking aside  - a bigger hole should = more evened cooking from within.   

Just ordered some of these. Hoping they are the real stainless and not iron as some peeps have found out when ordering similar items.

How are they doing?

1. Yes you can keep them warm in the oven. I tend to reheat in micro.
2. The general opinion on the forum seems to be no, but you can maybe make a two portion sized curry as you do a single portion. As far as I understand this is to do with cooking out the spices and reducing the sauce which doesn't work out the same when making a multi-portion curry.

Having said that I wonder if Bob (976bar) might be able to lend his experience on this question as he has been producing many bulk curries of late.

So -  if we have six of us and we are all on a Madras then I am supposed to do them separately?

Likewise, if we go in to a restaurant and all order a madras do they have 6 pans on the go in the kitchen to do this?  I think not.

Most of the vids etc i see seem to show a pan of curry made for one portion at a time.  2 questions

1.  If cooking a few different dishes then is it ok just to keep them warm in oven before serving?

2.  If I want to make Madras eg for 4 peeps then can I simply quad the recipe; it being just the size of the pan that may limit me?

Why not make your curry with excess oil, spoon off the excess at the end of cooking and then add to your pilau rice...then you wont have to bother with any of that patak crap.

another good idea. Just why I 'joined'. 

I have added a good dollop of paste to a small jar and then veg oil. A few good shakes and a few days later it just does not have the thick consistency and dark colour of the stuff in the jar. Will give it a bash though.

Question for those who make pilau in batches and then freeze -

Do you ( can you ) microwave straight from frozen or does it need to be defrosted first?

If from frozen - how long in microwave 750 +
