Also worth waiting for Lidl to do the white one again. Same make but comes with jug, whisk attachment and small blender / mixer thingy which is useful. ?14.99 I think. I don't use the whisk much but the jug and the bowl attachment thing are always out. Also handy that the stick is detachable, a feature not often found on cheaper end sticks.

i use the argos one at ~4 pounds. i just get a new one when it's broke. last's between 1 and 2 yrs.
don't put it in when the base is too hot - melts the plastic (quite a nice shape)
A stick blender that melts in hot liquid
. Hahahah. . How useful.

Makes sense - I have never ground them up. I do like to suck the juices out of them though and tend to leave them in the finished meal.

hahaha probs cos you don't abuse it like some do.
Not so my friend, I use them to chop through bones as well, (when I can't find my Chinese cleaverWhich I would class as the best tool ever when it comes to slicing and dicing ;D)
Les
Some 'steels' do actually sharpen as they are made of different gear and they remove microscopic bits of metal from the blade. Still, more important things to discuss than sharpening knives
like chasing the 'taste'.
Chinese cleaver? One of the few that I have never owned or used.

A very BIG thank you to H4ppy Chris for sourcing and supplying these
Anybody managed to source the double pan other than walking into an Indian supplies shop?

I never use a 'V' sharpener for the very reasons stated, They mess up your blades, And if you pay a lot of money for a good knife why ruin it with one of these things.
I use a steel exclusively.
Les
Yes but a steel will not sharpen.
