I use a Bosch Coffee grinder and have had no issues grinding cumin seeds or any other spice for that matter. I put a crack in the lid when I was p**h*d and dropped it though 8) Still works a treat - I find Bosch stuff to always be pretty heavy duty. Good manly products like car parts and no nonsense appliances. Not like that feminine bit of kit you got on Amazon! Are you sure that thing's a grinder and not something else? I've never heard of one that takes 2 AAs ;D
I'm just kidding - looks much smarter than mine!

Actually Bobby, it's not mine - the Missus bought it.

She told me I could use it to grind spices if I really want to, but I'm damned if I can find where the spices go?

I would really like to try that out aswell. I'm keen to know you get on. Do you use it in place of Garam M or spice mix or??? Appologies for being a little off topic here.

Lol, are you the local herb dealer now :o? We need to change your name to SmokenAndSellingSpices ;D

Seriously they're it's not all for me. I really wanted to try the Bassar Masala, but nowhere round here sells the stuff, so I went to Spices of India. I wasn't going to spend 5 squid on delivery so I ordered a few other bits (as you do).

Now I'll have to use spices in every meal for the next 6 months.  ::)

Is this quite small, or do you climb inside to use?
Yup, I climb inside? It's actually a discarded 60 foot space rocket ... specially converted for grinding spices! ::)

Do you make up your own garam masala then?
Or is it for coriander and cummin seeds?

I want to make some Mughal Garam Masala. This only uses:-

Cardomom seeds, cinnamon sticks, cloves, black peppercorns and some nutmeg.

Bought one of these little Wahl coffee grinders during the weekend (15 squid) - so far so good.

Anyone else got one of these models - any feedback.

I've heard that grinding cummin seeds can destroy plastic (the lid) ... anyone had experience with this?

In fact their on line service is the best I've experienced.

Ordered a load of spices yesterday at 11.30 (previous post) and they arrived this morning at 9.30.

Can't ask for a better service than that. Well chuffed.

ps: Bassar masala smells wonderful, can't wait to use it.

This morning I ordered 32 squids worth of spices from them - including 2 x 400g Al Noor Bassar Masala !

Free delivery (over 30 squid) ...
