Reading all these posts about the closure of this group I believe that it would be such a pity if this mine of information disappeared from the internet. I always love to look at the different posts that have been submitted over the years before I cook various curries for other people and marvel at the choices of food on these pages. and the helpful advice that has been given over the years and it's all still there to delve into whenever the need arises. I must admit that I am not one of the chefs that submit to the pages but honestly, I would be devastated if I thought we were going to lose this great source of curry information for good. Please don't go!

My husband is so jealous of you, it's his dream to go to Shimla on the railway, perhaps another year. This year we are going on the Nigiri railway toy train to Ooty in Tamil Nadu and will stay in that region for perhaps a week or so so will be nice to get away from the Goan heat for a little while.
You're trip sounded lovely, a foodie's paradise!

I couldn't tell if that was a question or a statement but I'm off to Goa Christmas for three months, looking forward to the excellent food and home cookery lessons given by friends out there.

Lets Talk Curry / Re: Curry Leaf plant

Hi, I can't remember but think it was someone on Ebay. To be honest I've had a closer look at my plant and it is absolutely covered with insects even though I have been spraying it so I've discarded all the leaves and will now dump the plant as I don't fancy putting it in my food any more so I have ordered 3 bare rooted cutting off Amazon and intend to start all over again.

Lets Talk Curry / Re: Curry Leaf plant

Hi, I have a curry leaf plant that is thriving and is now 23" tall. I leave it out in a pot in the summer but bring it in the house once the weather changes, I daresay you could put it in a heated greenhouse but I wouldn't risk no heat. I initially brought it from someone online as a small plant, at the moment I have got scale insects on it which they give off a sticky substance on the leaves so have been spraying it with an organic pesticide (neem) and hope that this will do the trick. I would hate to lose it as find it invaluable to have in the kitchen but obviously wouldn't use it at the moment.

Hi BB,
welcome to this wonderful group. I found it a couple of years ago and refer back to the recipes time and time again. There are some great recipes here and knowledgeable people inputting as well as the videos on youtube.
I'm just a retired lady with a passion for collecting curry books and recipes and always endevour to get plenty of Indian cookery lessons in when we holiday in Goa for three months each year, bringing home loads of unusual spices to use. like fresh tamarind and cocum, although all this isn't BIR cooking.
Married, four children and ten Grandchildren living in Worcestershre.
Have fun
