George, it not about a 'poiice state' and i'm all for freedom of speach but if the behaviour is damaging to the overall aims and reputation of the site and upsetting people, then there needs a be a firm hand.

I am an administrator and moderator for a forum and it is absolutely essential to keep on top of internet bullies and yes it is up to admin discression but should be written in stone in the T&C's so that everyone knows what to expect.  Unfortunately I have had to ban some people after a number of warnings.  Some people deliberately go out of their way to manipulate other peoples feelings and they get a kick out of it and if they're consistantly disruptive then they should go.  Is this not a social forum?  if so what is being done about anti-social behaviour?  With the greatest respect, you're philosophy seems to be just to let it go.  You can't have a civil society without certain rules and regulations in order to maintain and uphold civil behaviour for the benefit of the majority and unfortunately some people are not behaving in a civil way.  Its not a police state to do this, its just common sense

I can see your point George but I've seen posts recently which are designed to deliberately enflame bad feeling and damages the integrity of the forum.  We are all adults with a common interest and should be pulling in the same direction for the benefit of everyone involved.  Some of the behaviour borders on bullying and harassment, surely this should be stopped?

I completely agree with all of this and I am new here and was shocked to see the amount of bickering and trolling here.  It doesn't set a good example to new members who could positively contribute to this forum.  However we shouldn't stifle debate but there needs to be a line drawn.

Oh please keep posting videos Chis.  I love your videos and will miss them if you stop.  Just ignore the trollers on here (ie SS), they're just jealous and incapable of civil conversation.

My wife makes this as she is Indian.  I'm not keen on it myself, it's just a dry rice flake type of stir fry with spices and potato.

Well I for one can't wait for the book and anyone who makes an concerted effort to help others improve their BIR cooking is a friend of mine.  I can't believe all the bitching and trolling on here sometimes.  Are we not all friends united under a common interest?  Probably best to ignore any trolling and not take the bait.

I couldn't help but notice the massive spice containers. I generally buy the 400g bags of the main spices, but then I seem to regret it as most of the time it goes down to waste. You seem to have way more than 500g in these containers, do you get through them quickly enough?

Thank you Goncalo, yes I did cook them all at once any more than that and I struggle with.  I store my spices in jars but the spices I use most of in curries (chilli and mix powder) I store in bigger quantities in 1ltr plastic containers and last for months as long as they're sealed.  I tend to use quite a lot of it and refil them about every two months.  I buy the 400g packets apart from chilli powder where I use the Melam 1kg which I think is a much better quality chilli powder and produced in Kerala which is the best region for spices.  With some of the other chilli powders I do wonder about the chilli content, I suspect some uses other ingredience and red food colour but that's just my gut feeling.

Nice collection and I have the Pran naga chilli pickle in my kitchen.  Is it still available to buy in the shops as it was banned by the food standards agency in about 2008 and taken off the shelves for having an illegal ingredient.  I think it used a banned red food colouring or something.
