Has anyone kept an offline version of Andy's magic paste recipe? It appears to be what this thread was talking about, but the only other references I can find all seem to be dead ends and broken links, eg...

Just wondering if it was anything significant?

It'll be tilapia fish. Very firm texture and good for curries as it doesn't break up easily like some other fish.

Thanks Bob, looks like they're almost next door to Quality Foods's Hayes branch: http://quality-foods.co.uk/shops/ so I could check out both with one visit. Think I'll do just that as I've run out of a few things and I can almost guarantee these places will beat Asda's prices on spices, oil, rice, etc. plus I need some mr Naga.

Yes, definitely cheaper than any supermarket. We regularly buy 25kg sacks of Basmati Rice for around

I have no idea what's occurred with that last image in the OP - it's certainly not the image I posted when making the original post!

I think the image hosting website I was using at the time have recycled the link, which makes me wonder what other images might show up in my older posts in the future?!

I'd be very surprised if they don't CK but I haven't been yet, so can't confirm. I'm thinking I might leave my visit for a few weeks to await the next time I need to make base gravy, so everything I buy is as fresh as possible when I cook with it.

Whereabouts in southall Bob? I've considered making a supply run down there but wouldn't know which of the shops to go to or whether they are even open to the public or account-only (trade)?

I'm struck by how similar this recipe is to H4ppy-Chris's new naan recipe which is all the rage now. The flour to liquid ratio is almost the same (assuming you end up with left over liquid as this recipe states) and the core method of mix>rest>fridge overnight>balls>roll out & cook is the same.

Chris's recipe has more baking powder and massively more sugar (but from comments seems some are already scaling back the sugar when they make Chris's, so which recipe is better?) and this has been right here on the forum since 2007! Kinda vindicates the quality of the original research from pacman doesn't it? Also JB who has been saying for years that this is the real deal.

E mailed them a couple of times over the last few months but no reply. :)

It's just not possible for Julian to reply to emails because he gets so many. He's said that in one of his PR puff releases. One of the hazards of being a famous youtube celebrity no doubt.  ::)
