I have been watching this excellent programme on television then watching it again on iPlayer to jot down some of the receipes that I found interesting. One was Beef Shatkora and the other one was Bengali style Rohu curry. I then searched online and found two recipes that looked interesting and so if anyone else is interested am copying them online here.

Hi, ok Phil the place I recommend in Brum is Adils, Stoney Lane. We have been going here for the last thirty odd years and still drive the thirty miles on a Saturday night to get a real authentic Indian (although I believe they're from Pakistan) meal. http://www.adilbalti.co.uk/about/ You won't be disappointed!

Hi , welcome,
I hail from Bromsgrove, Worcs. I absolutely love this site and can't believe the information I've picked up over the few years I've been using it. My curries have improved immensely
There are quite a few curry houses around here but I just cannot believe what they get away with the locals who generally haven't a clue what a real authentic curry should taste like We holiday in Goa for three months every year so have tasted proper curries.. Last week I went with friends to one local restaurant and ordered chicken Chennai,(Madras hot) when it came it was five pieces of chicken in what appeared to be a base sauce that was devoid of any heat or taste at all other than the quite bland taste of base sauce, I didn't send it back as they usually just add a spoonful of chilli powder to rectify it whenever I complain. My friend ordered 'her favourite' which appeared to look like a pizza, A plate of mince and chicken gravy with GRATED CHEESE SPRINKLED OVER THE TOP,, She was happy! My other friend had the usual 'chicken balti' another tasteless concoction. Needless to say, we go to the Birmingham Balti triangle for a decent curry, always to the same restaurant which was supposed to be the forerunner of baltis.

Lets Talk Curry / Re: An Indian Housewifes Recipe Book

We've been going to Goa for about eighteen years and over that time have been to friends houses and ate numerous home made curries, all tasted lovely but completely different to the BIR curries that we eat in the UK, their curries are usually much thinner than the BIR curries made with a base sauce and probably what the Indian Housewife would serve up, whereas the curries served in the restaurants are basically the BIR ones that we know and love (possibly more so than ours as the spices are so much fresher)

Wow, going to look in ours to go with my 'collection' of currry books. I've got loads of them and to be honest, I tend to go back again and again to the same old tried and tested recipes, certainly a lot on here and then look others up on the internet, , print them off in large font so that I can read them as I cook.. Anyone else do this?

Lets Talk Curry / same old. same old

Well we're off on our usual Balti pilgrimage tonight, driving twenty miles to the usual restaurant in Birmingham. We have been going regularly for the past thirty odd years and I can honestly say that the standard of food is just as good as in the early years. The place has had a massive makeover and has gone more upmarket but the staff are still the same friendly crew. It has been stated that the place was the first to introduce Balti to Birmingham so it's been up against loads of competition over the years but is still standing heads above the rest. Just wondering how many others on here have been going to the same balti house that long. Yes, it's Adils,

Is it just me, or does anyone else find the continual banging of the chef's spoon on the pans throughout theses videos really irritating?
