Pictures of Your Curries / Re: My Christmas effort!

Yes, unashamedly so... I also added a tsp of mango chutney in the cooking process.
I best add that I only added about a tsp of the biryany mix as I can find this type of rice can be over powering for me but I do love it just a tad in the background.
I realise Chewy also uses a pressure cooking style rice but I done Julian's version as it's what I'm familier with.

Pictures of Your Curries / My Christmas effort!
December 25, 2012, 09:35 PM
Not exactly festive but seeing me and the other half are not on good terms at the minute I only had myself to worry about this Xmas...
I treated myself to this for today's dinner and thoroughly lovely it was too.
It was Mickthebass Chicken Tikka in with Chewytikkas base and mix and Madras.
I added some precooked onions and peppers, some ahmed chilli pickle and a mild sliced chilli.
I also threw in a pod of crushed cardomon seeds.
The rice was cooked via c2go pressure cooker method but with Chewys tip of Shan pilau Biryani mix.
It may of turned into a Jalfrazi at some point?
Probably one of the better ones I have made.
I'll pop around her's and pick my Christmas dinner up tomorrow so everyones a winner.  ;)
Thanks to all for me getting this far... Happy Christmas.

It's funny but her name isn't as pleasantly English sounding as my fading memory told me it would be.  :'(

Could It have been Hilda Ogden?  :P

Lets Talk Curry / Re: Mr Naga ruined my curry!

Thanks for your time in writing this Salvador... That is without doubt one intresting comprehensive no nonsence answer.
Good news in fact!  :)

What better place for a case study of the myths surrounding the evils of spicy foods than forums such as this.
I have always had in the back of my mind that us Europeans weren't/wasn't (help me out here Phil) cut out for a lifestyle of this cuisine without detrimental consequences.
Let the good times roll!  ;D

Re Robs video... Those Aussies do tend to like a bit of extreme sports, I watched him and his son tuck in to the Dorset Naga, they was mighty impressed, I may have to give it a go.

Hope your tests turn out ok Steph as I'm of an age now where everything is taking it's toll also. I've been over indulging in everything apart from smoking from an early age so now my mortality has become questionable.  :-\

As for Clarkson that was quite a funny write up, he blows hot and cold with me so I wasn't too sure if I was hoping for his demise or not during his encounter with the Insanity sauce.  ;D
As I mentioned earlier... I'm just glad I've run out of Mr Naga for a while.

Just read the following off the Mr Vikkis site regarding the Queen Naga...

"Mr Vikki's Queen Naga pulls no punches, you might initially be disappointed by the size of the jar you receive, but I can guarantee you only need a small sample to give yourself stomach ulcers."

Probably not a good bit of marketing!
Now please do tell me... Does eating too much spicey food (especially curry) give you stomach ulcers?
Has anybody had any problems with their health (apart from piling on a few pounds) that they equate to too much spicey food etc?

Traditional Indian Recipes / Mutton Karahi!
October 19, 2012, 11:47 AM
My apologies if this has been on here before...
I should imagine many of you would have seen this, and maybe someone here actually posted it to youtube. But for those who have not it's worth a look.
Talk about grass roots street market cooking! The only flames I can recall seeing in a market when I was a kid was the roasted chestnut man doing his business, I think health and safety would have a few words to say about this.  :o

I would like to try this at some point with half the ingredients for the size of my pressure cooker. I don't know what is meant by old sliced ginger but hopefully ordinary will do, and as for sour yogurt, the comments seem to say ordinary is ok.
Edit: Without trying to open a can of worms this is one of the comments...

Hi GC, believe you me... If even I can achieve a reasonable standard curry then with a bit of patience anyone can.
Prepare for taste sensation!  :)

Great until you consider that a spoon that size will not go into any of my old coffee jars in which I keep my spices etc. !! Doh!!  Back to the drawing board.

Think yourself lucky Ruby, you want to try and get a spoon into my common as muck containers of which I have plenty.  ???
Fortuanately a teaspoon fits the bill...  ;)
Watch out, there's a Humphrey about!
