hi guys we have a leccy knob but i only use it if and its a big IF my ikcle  gas camping stove with butane cannisters that throws out more heat than the leccy knobs does anyway at 2.2kW. so gas all the way and at 4 gas cannisters for a fiver and 1 1/2 hours on full power longer if you simmer LOL! i cook a curry 5 out of 7 nights am never disappointed!

hi this is very similar to my Mouchak base recipe :o cook veg 1st then add a tarka and spiced water! shame no has tried it until now :( well almost

hi adk like i've said before about PC opinions vary! i see him as a charlatan because "its not exactly as it is on the tin!" and the money i have spent on his books pale into insignificance, when i joined this forum back in 2004! glad you have success using his restaurant dish recipes LOL! balti is different though exception to the rule!

In English you might call it sauteing, stir frying, a quick light stewing or even a combination of all three.
But as Abdul replied, Bhagar is the correct Bengali term for this. (The Horse's mouth, so to speak)

hi chewy if you read the Bruce Edwards curryhouse cookery article available in the downloads section he cooks are tarka and then adds the gravy to the tarka!
to enhance the gravy.

hi guys i get Raj frozen fresh crushed garlic and ginger at less than a pound for 400grams u can't go wrong  they sell them in asda they come in 1tbsp blocks.
