Dhansak was the first curry that I ever ate and it was awesome.  My problem being that, I've never tasted anything that comes remotely close to that first one :(

Same here Ray, it was in the old Orient Express on Gt Ancoats Street, near the city centre. It was a long time ago, but it was absolutely gorgeous.

I used to cycle down there from Miles Platting on a Sunday night after the pubs (3 parts p*ssed) to get a takeaway Dhansak. Back in the days before home delivery.

It really was THAT good, and well worth the effort. :D

Beating my husband (ex) on the drag strip at he Bulldog Bash was the best highlight of my biking years. I grinned all day, so much my cheeks ached  ;D

His engine, GPZ900r shoe horned into an Z650 frame, was taken apart (by him, bike mechanic) to find the cause of what was wrong with it, there was nothing! Needless to say much p*** taking for years and years, still makes me grin now 12 years later.

Oh yeah, my bike at the time standard Bandit 600, unfaired.

Love biking but been to far too many funerals, lost my nerve a bit, prefer my push bike nowadays! Getting old!  ;D

Hahaha. Nice one Terramamba.

Suzuki's are built for speed eh? Them Bandits are pretty insane. I had a 1250 Bandit for a while.....nice bike.

I once had a bit of a drag from traffic lights with a HSV Holden ute ( a big ass Aussie V8 ). Well it gave it's best, but the Suzuki left it for dead. ;D

Noice SD.

I've had moe than a few bikes too. Went down the cruiser route for a while, but came back to "normal" bikes. Can't handle the sporty riding position nowadays......too old, so went for a big arse naked. :D

I've always had nakeds (always loved the butch looks of the 1400, too), and the GSXR is my first sportsbike. I bought it in 2008 at the age of 50!

It was a bit uncomfortable at first (my previous bike had been a much loved Triumph Speed Triple 1050), but the more miles you do the more you get used to it, and I've done many a 500 mile plus day across France and Spain.

But I'm going to stop there, as I'm just as crazy about bikes as I am about beer and curry, and I'll be here all night!

I love the Speed Triple and Street Triple, and Triumphs in general.

My dream bike would be a Rocket3, but I, (or rather the wife) cannot justify the $24,000 price tag. I really like the Thunderbird Storm too, but that is even more dollars in OZ.

But, I am happy with my GSX. Mental amounts of torque = big silly grin  :o :)

I'm a old bikes man .. I have a 1958 Jawa 555 Pioneer , a 1948 CZ 125T both mint and a couple of older bikes in bits awaiting TLC .. I couldn't ride the sorts of bikes above it would scare me to death !!  :)

Hey Colin, I love the older machines too, I just don't have the patience to restore (or the know-how) to maintain them.

I have often thought it would be a great hobby to restore old bikes, but I wouldn't know where to start.....so I just jump on me Suzi and ride.. ;D

Sign of a successful evening is when the guest are happy and they obviously were.  The pics probably don't do the food justice.  I find it hard enough doing it in a lit kitchen let alone by moonlight outside.  Good job AM. Look forward to the next gathering and following report ;)  And i definitel tell the buggers to move out of the way to take pics. Least they could do being about to receive some free slap up BIR nosh  ;D

Thanks Mr. Curryhell.

The pictures definitely didn't do the food justice, but they were once again snapped on my iphone, as I forgot to ask my son to charge up the camera. ???

I also forgot to take pictures of the other dishes once guests started arriving.

I will be better organised next week................maybe! lol

Numbers are creeping up for next week, it was supposed to be 5, but now we're up to 8  :'(

I didn't do a search, so apologise if this has been done before, but I have noticed references to motorbikes.

How many other bike riding ex-home brewing curry heads are on this forum? ;D

I ride a Suzuki GSX1400. Fitted with a large top box, so I can ride to the Indian food shop and stock up and indulge both my main pleasures at the same time.

I've made this a few times, and people that have sampled it have luurved it.

Interesting about the fennel seeds, as before discovering this site, probably the most reliable tasty curry I had made was the Pat Chapman version cooked in the oven with fennel seeds, black pepper, dried chillis, tomatoes, and tomato paste, and not much else?? ???

Thanks again Chewy for taking the time to put this up..........it's much appreciated.

I remember hearing stories of people running out of their houses into the street with exploding home brew bottles :).

It's true!

If you overprime your bottles ie. add too much sugar for secondary fermentattion, then yes, bottles could/will expolde.

Hey BB. Correct me if I'm wrong, but from memory ales are top fermented and flavoured with hops like fuggles and goldings, whereas lagers are bottom fermented and flavoured with halertau type hops.

At the end of the day lagers like Fosters aren't really "brewed". More like manufactured by chemists.
