The huge naans are cooked in large steel lined tandoors which have a top opening getting on for 30 inches wide.
They are straight sided.
The naans themselves are rolled and placed on a gaddi that is more akin to a bed pillow.

Many thanks. I've now searched youtube for 'big naan' and it brings up some interesting results, including the following video taken at an up market restaurant in India. The naan bread bit starts at about 3 mins 45

As they say, it takes a lot of skill to man-handle such a large item into a scorching hot tandoor,

The chronology is that Gav Iscon's highly insulting post was deleted quite quickly, leaving all other posts in place. Then hours/days later all the posts were deleted bar the first two. If this foum had rules which we could respect, then Gav Iscon would receive a final warning and if he ever used such language again, should be banned.

It's not only your (non-offensive) post that's been deleted but all-bar a harmless post of praise.  Anything for a quiet life, presumably, with no dissenting opinions allowed,.Bad news indeed, for the forum.

Some BIRs produce naan breads which must be at least 6 times the normal size.

See here: https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g187069-d796464-r116334103-Akbar_s-Manchester_Greater_Manchester_England.html

Do they somehow manage to squeeze them into a tandoor oven are are they cooked flat in some kind of large oven?

Any ideas?

Littlechile - Ah, so your aim was to stir up trouble and it seems to have worked, with some of the worst aspects of any forum on display in this thread. For example, repeating Phil's huge block of 'text' within a few inches of the original, rather than applying good practice by trimming it down.

Garp - so you approve of littlechile for starting this thread but not of me for complaining about it?

The point is, there is those of us here that care the forum is being run and moderated correctly.

Really? When you started this blank thread.

I can now pick up a microscopic full stop which I previously thought was dust on my monitor, So it's not a bug with the forum software but, instead, your attempt to cause trouble. Why?

Well done. You've succeeded in convincing me this forum is going rapidly downhill, into something of a mad house.  The first step was probably the Josephine thread.  I doubt very much if the display on my monitor of post #1 is different to what everybody else sees.

I've just added a subject to my current reply, But Is this a wind-up or what? Martinvic claims there is a subject and content but I still can't see anything. It's all most odd,
