Lets Talk Curry / Re: non TA shop bought curry
March 16, 2013, 11:17 PM
Let me try and make a simple and stupid remark but in some way may be a comparison (can't think of another way of putting it)...

Now I happen to love chips. Potatoes are cheap and so is oil. It is not too hard to prepare and cook them but now and again for some strange reason I resort to an oven chip or two. They all taste b***dy nasty in comparison to proper chips but I still wander up and down the aisle for a good five mins or so trying to get my head around the best on offer.
It is a strange phenomenon I know, sometimes I even hang about to spy on what other people are selecting.. I'm just that type of guy?  :(:'(

All I can say is that was a brave question MM. And the question indirectly being "what is the best you prefer out of a bad bunch". (Well maybe not)

If you don't prefer or eat any of them then you have no answer to this and maybe should refrain from joining in on this thread as you have no answer.
Maybe the only issue I can find is that it should of been in the non curry section of the forum if you want to be padantic as it is not BIR.
In case anyone is the least bit intrested lately I go for "McCain Homefries"!  :) ;)

Seeing Icelands has become my prime resource for food recently for convenience and other unfortunate reasons I may well give your reccommendation a try MM.

I must say their mini coriander and garlic Nanns of which go for 6 for

I also started my curry making journey with Julians marinate method and think I asked this question myself a while back.
I must say that since then I have got lazy and not been doing this, I quite often regret the resulting tenderness and taste etc.
Most of the time however I have moved over to using Mickthebass Tikka marinate as I've become a chick tik junkie so rarely use it.

One other trivial reason is that I tend to get round to making things on the impulse and never have any yogurt in the house immediately at hand, and being too lazy to go out to the shops Mickthebass's non yogurt version has all the ingredients at hand substituting the fresh lemon for bottled lemon juice.

Could you tell me if this is Curryhells NIS please Jamie, and is the original the vindaloo one that my searches have come up with.

Looks right up my street, is there a link please?

Thank's Ruby, although I have only cooked two so far, the first was C2G's of which I thought was great and as you say Mickdabase version of which I thought was even better.
This the reason why I would like to sample Blades.
Thank's for the link.  :)

I am having trouble hunting down Blade's Tikka recipe.
I have found plenty of threads covering it but doing a forum search entering Search For "tikka" from User "Blade" does not turn up results.

I have also looked under the Main dishes section and cannot track it down.

You never know...This just may be one of my missions for passing a few hours on this Sunday afternoon Phil.
I'll probably go to sleep tonight with this girls face haunting me (hopefully the colour version). Then again, would that be such a bad thing.  :)

Clever : now what's the betting it still works if you remove the three dots from her nose ?!
** Phil.
Wouldn't be so sure, It's obviously somthing to do (or palming itself off) with  RGB of which I have been trying to get my head around to it's full potential after years of messing with Photoshop...
A truely amazing trick on the eye.

I think you have put this to bed for me CH.
Thanks for your prompt and valid advice.  :)
