Just noticed the time on the forum is an hour slow so it's been simmering 2 and half hours not 3 and a half. I was wondering where that time went!

Well after about 3 and a half hours simmering no oil has risen, all I'm getting is froth.
I couldn't wait any longer as I was starving so I made a very basic prawn curry using this base and Razors spice mix and it was very nice. Probably nearer to the real thing than I've ever made before but definately room for improvement!
I've turned the heat off now and will sort it out in the morning. It will probably taste better tomorrow night as I've been tasting it about every 10 minutes.
All in all fairly happy with my first attempt.

Just doing this now and it's my first attempt at making any base. I'm at the final stage now and it's been simmering for about 1 hour but I think I've added too much spice.
I followed the recipe but perhaps my tablespoon is bigger than most! It seems very thick so I'm adding chicken stock regulary but it's tasting grainy although it does smell superb.
Hopefully it'll be ok.

Thanks Stephen, I'll let you know how it goes. Fairly confident with the right ingredients and the recipes on here that it'll be good.
Whether or not it'll be as good as one from the takeaway I use (which is what I've promised the missus) we shall see. ;D
Now thinking of buying a tandoor oven but the 300 quid price tag is making me hesitate along with the fact it's out of stock at the moment.
Cheers,
H.

Thanks Solarsplace that site looks just what I'm after. Going out now for a...yes a curry but will take a proper look and place an order when I get back.
Glad I found this site, looks like some great recipes here. Could be putting on a few pounds over the next month or two.
Cheers,
H.

Hello all, I'm going to have a go at making a curry base then curry soon and was wondering if there is a website where I can order a 'kit' to get all the spices I need.
I live in rural Somerset and my choice of asian shops is pretty limited to say the least. Also a good curry base recommendation which is fairly easy for my first attempt would be handy too.
I've been making currys for years but after reading through this site I realise I've got to up my game!!! ;D
