They carry the Mothers and Ashoka brands but don't have the Kashmiri masala in either of them either nor the Tikka.

Hi Mark,

Yes I like the Ashoka brand pastes. They do make a tikka paste, (I just checked in my fridge) so keep looking, or maybe ask them to order it in.

We're quite lucky here, our local IGA stocks Ashoka pastes.  :D

Hi I live in Brisbane and I haven't seen Pataks Kashmiri paste or Tikka paste. I have found Tikka masala paste but I don't know if it could be used instead of Tikka paste for marinading?
I wonder if Coles would add these pastes and others from Pataks to their import order as they do import Pataks, Iron Brew, Weetabix and the likes? I don't know who I would write to though?

I believe there are ways of downloading YouTube videos and importing into editing software so would be happy to spend some time exploring possibilities.

Hi natterjak

I use this free website to download from YouTube    http://keepvid.com/

No need to buy the keepvid program, the free option works a treat  ;)

Cheers curryhell for reply, it's very much appreciated, especially the info on onion seeds. I might find them, now I know the other names they come under ::)

Hi

I can't find black mustard seed or onion seed over here. Would brown mustard seeds do? The onion seeds I don't know what they look like, would onion flakes do (roasted) or would it give a totally different taste?

I have really enjoyed watching the videos so much, that I have downloaded them from youtube on to my hard drive for easy access for when I start trying to copy the dishes plus I just enjoy watching them  :D. A big thank you to the guys and Az as I know you didn't have to document the lessons for us on video, but for your generosity, you did us all and the forum proud.

Sounds like you all had a wonderful informative day all thanks to Chris and Az who seems like a truly nice, genuine guy.

I will need to try and arrange my holiday back from Oz to coincide with one of the cooking lessons from Az: I take it there will be more organised?

Well done to all who took part, I?m so envious (in a good way) ;D

Just out of curiosity I priced the garam masala to ship to Australia through Jalpur Millers site.

Garam Masala:    1.79 Sterling

Shipping Cost:   65.99 Sterling.

Total Cost          67.78 Sterling

Lol don't think so, a wee bit to expensive to ship over  :(

Nice post

But it isn't final without your recipe for the spice mix

Still a good post though

I concur gazman. Being in Oz I won't be able to ship any of the "secret" spice mix over. Hopefully ifindforu will share the secret of the spice mix for free, just like many others on this wonderful free site has shared their knowledge for free including some authors of books and BIR chefs. After all that's what this site is all about unlike the other one that was about making money!
