It all looks fantastic Bob! AND onion salad too!, thats the sort of touch that gets you noticed. :)

Hi Dalpuri,

The spiced onions actually go into the North Indian Special, but we do make Raita's and Chutneys to go with our poppdaoms, which include Cucumber Raita, Yogurt mint sauce including now, Stephen Lindsey's yellow mint sauce, Coriander Chutney, Mango Chutney and an Indian Salad, comprising of equal parts, finely chopped tomato (seeds and inners removed), Red onion, Cucumber (inners removed) and freshly chopped Coriander. Sometimes we add some toasted cumin seeds too :)

Ohh, Well in that case, boooo.  ;D (joking)
Having an onion salad (spicy onions) "just there" is what i'd be talking about on the way home.  ;D Sad i know.
That sounds like a nice selection to go with the pops though (not really that fussed with poppadoms myself)
You have a very spoilt bunch of students in any case.  :)

Have noticed a few t-shirts around lately in the current trendy theme of the MOI posters. Could be of interest to some members.  ;)
Not my thing really, wearing t-shirts emblazoned with logos and the like, although i have been known to wear the odd one or two. (freebies from playing festivals)

does anyone have any ideas on what the dish next to the onion is - it's got me beat and i feel it's probably a key ingredient:

12) Unknown paste ?

Could it possibly be whizzed up fried onions with a drop of water or yoghurt?   :)

Had another TA from Yadgar, Calder st, Glasgow.
That, combined with a Nihari from KO (Kebabish Original) around the corner, has been the best meal ive had in Scotland so far.  :)
I asked about the rice this time and was told he buys in 40kg sacks from MAP.
Checked them out online and found out they supply White Pearl Basmati.
This is definitely going to be my next purchase once ive gotten through the current 10kg of Badshah.

Its a rice experience!  :D Deelicious!

Cooking Equipment / The Home Tandoor Recap
October 10, 2013, 01:39 PM
After the two threads recently posted on the 90 quid tandoor from spices of india, i decided to put on my detective Dee hat and do some investigating.  :)

It seemed to me that this price was way over the top for what it is and prompted me to find some cheaper alternatives for the good people of this forum. Is it down to the design of the cut-outs/ pattern of holes used or is it simply the fact that there is water placed in the bottom that makes this possible to use indoors?

The aluminium version i posted in the other thread shows that the design might not be as important as claimed. That particular model is offered for between
