Opps this went a bit off topic didint it  :(
I hope every ones okay and has not moved
away from the site.

God job we all love cooking  :-*

Saag Alloo from this book has anyone else made it?

I plan to make it again on Monday, i have still to use all of
Chewy's base so that's the base i will use.

I think we really have moved along way on here over the last year
or so  :) fantastic.

I find Abdul very helpful and he has posted some recipes from his
book here, inc the spice mix how kind is that.

The book is optional and only the price of a pint in London,
well you get the idea  ;)

I think hes been helpful on this site in the past and has given his
advise for free with out us knowing.

I bought the book (its only a few quid) and the Saag Alloo (main) spicing and method worked very well
but on this occasion i used chewytikkas base.
I am sorry i have not tried the books base yet,
but it cant be too far from chewytikka's or other good bases.

Chewys base moves towards sweet and savory and the final stage uses a
food mill to remove the unwanted bits.

I will be making this Saag Alloo again from this book using what ever base works
best (as said - i have yet to try the books base) this dish would be to compliment other Indian food.

I think its a good choice for party's etc as no meat is used and can be either a main or a side dish.
Also we have to consider other peoples diets (vegetarian etc) if your trying
to be a good host.

5th out of 6th well there you go !!

So much self hype from these celeb chefs that i don't believe
much of what is said anymore.

However i do feel for any owner who has to put up with foul mouth drunks.

Oh Oh are we getting another cook book soon !!!

I have never had a BIR 3 course meal for ?7 and never seen one open until 3am.

He is very privileged to have customers willing to give him ?21 for monkfish. There is also charging for presentation ! I am sure if another bir opened next door he would over time reduce his prices until he is once again serving the local "average" food and driving a clapped out Volvo doing celebrity home delivery for couple of quid.

I tried to edit this earlier but got called away...round here a over the last few years the bir's have fallen to a poor quality but a couple i know have indeed tried to come up with new dishes. A cod starter being one of them, a little over priced at times but they have tried to improved.

Thanks Ramirez,

Funny how some also said they like the BIR version just as much
and at times better than authentic curry ! I found the link interesting
and considering we are not moving forward now we should still keep looking :-)

I have seen a few interesting things in BIR Kitchens lately, but for the time being
we seem to be going round in circles until the next breakthrough that is.

I also give credit to Chewy for posting his base.

Keep a hold  ;)

Yes hes completely ott and like err possessed. It looks like its never been used before, so clean so shiney  ;D always a give away.

But with out trying the "gas oven tandoor" who knows, all i will say is it looks a bit small or that chicken is massive  ;)

One the positive side it could save energy if you cooking for 1 or 2 peeps
so that has to be good.

Good a new Booklet with something different to try ( 8 spice) and some very similar information.
I have not tried it yet but worth a read, but vol 2 i am not sure about however i can understand his logic.

When things look/go wrong we start to correct automatically...http://www.infed.org/biblio/b-explrn.htm

so failed attempts are worth something :-) and not really worth falling out about !

One ladle for me using my kitchen thingy is 150 ml.

keep a hold :-X
