I'm familiar with that base, although I've never cooked it (I think it is at version 3, which is why you can probably no longer find version 2).

I would start with CA's recipes - simple, great results and very clearly documented.

CA's base: https://curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php?topic=3772.0

Links to the recipes for the final dishes are included within that link. Let us know how you get on.

Look really nice (not sure I've seen them that shape though)!  :)

Nice post Haldi.

That Sag Aloo looks absolutely perfect to my eyes! How did the base compare in taste to others on here? Presumably that was a vegetable Korma you made (judging by the pea and potatoes).

Yes, I agree with Paul - a much better solution would be to work out what is going wrong. You should be having a much greater success rate than that. Once you become familiar with the process it should be a walk in the park with consistently good results.

What recipe are you using and what do you feel is going wrong (taste, texture, etc.)

Nice find. I've tried a number of recipes of Mamta's with varying degrees of success.

I do agree with the majority of what they are saying, especially regarding there being no magical secret with BIR. Regarding whether authentic curry is better than BIR curry - I think there are strong arguments both ways. I've never really made an authentic dish that is as nice as my BIR dishes, but that is probably a combination of my authentic indian cooking skills not being up to much (get far more practice at BIR) and my palate preferring BIR cuisine.

I tried these a long time ago (and mixes from http://www.123curry.co.uk/) before I began making recipes from this site. They're okay as a reasonably cheap and cheerful curry, but they will never compete with the recipes on this site.

What dishes did you make with the base, Paul?

Nice report frank.

Is that last image the Korahi? Never seen cucumber in a Korahi like that.

Great, great pictures Mick! Oh, how I wish I had room for a tandoor and a curry shed.  :)
