Talk About Anything Other Than Curry / Re: Kettles!
January 23, 2012, 11:56 AM
Hi natterjak

Yes, your experiences are similar to mine. Last 2 kettles we have had have been from what one would think to be reasonable makes and at a price where you would think they would last for several years. But like you, they last less than 2 years. Usually for some silly reason like a small piece of plastic that keeps the lid shut snaps off.

Plus - they do not want you to repair them. In most cases you would not be able to get spares. They want you to be forced to buy this stupid 3 year extra guarantees and or just buy a new one and fill up landfill sites with busted kettles....

Edit: This was in response to a post made by George. Which he deleted some time later. Thus leaving this post here in this position and totally out context.

Nice handbag response (edited several times) from George there.

Seems like I have now been 'bitch slapped' too.

Oh well. Off to cook some curry. Have a splendid evening all.

Hi

I agree, it certainly looks the business!

Seems like a sucess from your post, can you share your verdict on the madras paste as a marinade?

Thanks!

Hi Solar,

It was really nice and made a good pre cooked chicken (madras style). However, next time I would leave out the tsp of garlic puree from the marinade as I found it just a little too much. But apart from that very nice indeed :)

Hi

Thanks for the reply. I really enjoy seeing your all your hard work and pictures - thanks for sharing and keep them coming!

All then best!

Well, Ramirez my good friend - you should consider yourself officially 'bitch slapped'.

Re: started by razor moved to where it belongs

I imagine that you would now, be more than hysterical that you are officially out of "imagined 'star chamber' - people whose opinions I rate."

LOL

Lets Talk Curry / Re: Recipe books league table
January 17, 2012, 08:20 PM
Hi

My personal pecking order is, as of right now:

(1)
Abdul's book - learn2cook vol 1
Abdul's other recipes (at cr0)

Personally, Abduls base and 8 spice is the closest to the BIR taste that I seek, that I have ever consistently created at home before ever.

(2)
Kushi Balti

I recommend this book, as I find the exotic taste of this chaps BIR / Balti style to be magnificent.

If I lost all my books, these are the ones I would replace first as of Jan 2012.

Edit: Although I should say, I continually refer to ChewyTikka, CBM, CA.

Thanks

Glad your family are coming to realise how wonderful BIR food can be :) - especially when you have made it yourself!

Don't forget to post those curry photos!

Welcome to the forum, unless you're closely connected with the author, of course.

Steady on old chap! - are you saying Dave Loyden and his friends are not welcome on CR0?

Poor old Dave already had a good verbal bashing in the thread already and now your putting another verbal boot in?  ;)

Edit: Forgot to say - Hi Speedy, welcome to cr0!
