Jalfrezi / Re: CA's Chicken Jalfrezi
November 15, 2009, 05:23 PM
Had some friends round and did a bit of a curry night last night after England got stuffed by Brazil.  I made some CTM and this Jalfrezi.  It is my best effort so far, very very nice and is definitely my best curry to date.  Remembered to take a pic after I had started eating it, lol.  too much beer.  I used CA's base to make this.
thanks CA ;D

Hi,

I made this last night with CA's base and it was very very good ;D.  All the family left clean plates.  I made it as the instructions on page one.   Thanks for sharing this Curryking 8)

Hi,

I Made this as my latest batch of base and very good it is, the best I have done so far I think.  It looks the same colour as the one in my local restaraunt when I managed to see it a few years ago (daughter worked behind the bar for a while).  It does taste a bit like a mildly spiced veg soup and is yellowy in colouras CA says it should be, also it is a lot thinner in consistancy than the others I have made.  I made Curryking's chicken tikka massala with it and the whole family enjoyed it very much (that's a 1st ;D, usually too spicy for them).  Next I will try Uncle Bucks garlic-chilli chicken with this base as I enjoyed it very much with the SNS base but this base is a lot different so will be interested to see the results.

I was going to post a pic of the base but cant seem to upload it, probably a problem at my end.

House Specialities / Re: UB's Garlic Chili Chicken

Hi,

I made this tonight (too many chillies made this hot hot HOT :o) which I love and was really pleased with it.  This is the nearest if not better than any garlic chilli chicken I have had from a BIR.  I used Blades chicken tikka with this and the last of my SNS base.

thanks for sharing this Uncle Buck ;)

Made these yesterday and had them today,  had previously done blades recipe and enjoyed that so had a go at this.  I must say it was very nice and totally different to blades.  This was more subtle if that is the right word.  I would definately do this again as I enjoyed it very much but next time I will add the mango powder as I never had any.
What will this add to the taste?
As for the tikka/tandoori debate to me they taste different at my local indian(Mehfil in Doncaster) but at some others they are very similar if not the same depends where you go I guess.  My local Indians tandoori chicken definately has a paneer taste to it and very nice it is too.  Anyone else had this taste do they putt paneer in the marinade?
I might be barking up the wrong tree but that is what it tastes like to me ;D

This is the third time I have made this but I made a mixed kebab,  I used the same marinade for lamb tikka and chicken tikka, bbq'd it and it was absolutely superb ;D.  I go to Oz on hols next week, wait till I show them my(cough cough) ;) tikkas.
ps also did some prawns too, delicious but the lamb was to die for.

thanks for the recipe 8)
