Good looking spread there Livo ;) :D
When I read the title. I was expecting a comparison between you own cooking
and a bought in Take Away. Then on reading the penny dropped  ;D ;D

Curries look tasty and your Naan looks like a Kulcha, what  cheese did you use
for the filling.

How sad, comparing any packet curry, to anything BIR quality is a joke. ::)
But if you dont like cooking or are challenged.

I can answer that one  ;D ;D ;D

Although Bassar originally is a shortcut one pot spice mix.

The Midlands, Yorkshire, lancashire BIRs etc will probably use it as a normal Bengali mix powder.
Somewhere like Bradford, historically has a high concentration of migrants from Mirpur/Kashmir
and those that went into the restaurant trade will have brought their specific cuisine,
adapted for UK tastes of course.
If you go to the famous Mumtaz Restaurant, Bradford, for e.g.,you will get this Bassar flavour from their style of BIR cooking.

Although I like to experiment, its never been to my taste and not Bangladeshi BIR food
I was was brought up on and championed since I joined cR0. ;)

Hi Livo
A quick fix for this elusive Bassar mix.

100g box of MDH Kitchen King, 40g of any chilli powder and 30g of Paprika.
put this together and add a drizzle of mustard oil
if you want it to clump up a bit, like they do in Mirpuri homes.

This will be a good substitute for the alchemist in you!

To add to a dish or to use as  a pickle?

Both ELW. Lovely stuff.

East End use really small young garlic cloves.
Crunchy flavour bombs  :P  Very addictive!

Great in any Achar dish. ;)

Like I said subjective opinions  :)
I agree to differ, especially with the Italian Napolina brand, a different type of chickpea
Italian Ceci Bean and really overpriced at 90p a can.
In this case you don

How big were the garlic cloves in your pickle ELW

Subjective opinions,  :)
I use a lot of chickpeas and KTC brand are very good canned products, their chickpeas are just fine.
Their bean selection is also good, Red and White Kidney Beans and Borlotti Beans I use regularly.
One of the Big Boys at supplying the BIR market, expanding through to the big supermarkets.
At one time I used to buy KTC only at Asian Stores, now the likes of Morrisons are stacked high.
