Robin B's recipe is the closest i have got to bir pilau rice, and its even better if you stir fry it with a little mix powder and add some beaten egg, mmmmmm lovely!!!!

Madras / Re: Mouchak madras recipe

Interesting point about leaving in in the pan with the lid on, takeaway curries must be in the containers for at least 10-15 mins till you get them home, even longer maybe if they are being delivered, maybe thats the missing secret!! plus food never tastes so good when you have cooked it yourself for some reason!!

Curry Base Chat / Base going off quickly.
February 22, 2011, 03:11 PM
Hi all, i recently made a batch of the Taz base(and it made a mighty fine curry),
i made the base on Friday afternoon and the curries on Sat night, i should have froze the rerst straight away but never got around to it, anyway when i went to freeze it on the sunday night it was smelling a bit off, and i had to bin it.
Can anyone tell me why curry base goes off so quickly as lentil soup etc will keep for longer.
It was out in the kitchen all the time so maybe that had something to do with it???

Maybe its just that food always tastes better if someone else  cooks it for you, if you have a fry up breakfast in a cafe or hotel it alaways seems to taste better that when you cook it yourself and then eat it.But its still the same ingredients in it.

BIR Main Dishes Chat / Tomato Ketchup!!
August 23, 2010, 09:32 AM
Hi everyone, on Sat night i made the usual curries for the family, Korma for the kids, Dhansak for my wife ands a Jalfrfeizi/madras crossover for myself. I didn't have a lot of tom puree left so when i made my own curry later i used about a tbsp of ketchup and i have to say it was the best curry i have made it seemed to have that taste and smell.Just wondered if anyone else had tried ketchup before, i will certainly be using from now on in my curry making.

Cheers for now,

MikeyP, Aberdeen.
