Thanks BAJ! I have never used paneer but it is something I must try. I haven't even eaten a paneer dish in a restaurant. Yes they all seemed to enjoy it and I am happy to say there was a little chicken Pathia left for me the next day.

I had a tray of base sauce left in the freezer and really fancied a Chicken Vindaloo tonight. I had almost forgotten what a nice dish this is. I normally add a squirt of tomato ketchup to my vindaloo but I didn't have any so I added a few teaspoons of cider vinegar and a little jaggery instead. I also used 2 crushed kashmiri chillies, 2 finely chopped finger chillies, kashmiri mirch and deggi mirch for the heat in the curry. Lovely! Apparently the Passanda was ok too.

Happy new year everyone! A bit of a late upload but here are the last curries I made in 2018. I had to cook some food for vegetarians who wanted to try a curry with meat substitutes so I made 2 curries using Quorn pieces. Top left going clockwise; Quorn Curry, Chicken Pathia, Quorn Pathia, Mushroom Bhaji, Bombay Aloo, Chicken Passanda and Mixed Vegetable Curry, served with Pillau Rice. There was very little leftover for breakfast sadly.

Thanks Naga! I think once you get used to how to cook a curry it's like riding a bike, although it's been even longer since I done that.  ;D I must get around to cooking some more base, always nice knowing exactly went into your curry

Thanks Livo! Yes there was a bit more oil than I expected, the shaheen onion masala is more oily than the base I make but it certainly does no harm to the flavour of this curry. It's been a while since I made a curry so I ended up scoffing the lot  ;D

Hi,
Had some leftover roast chicken so I decided to have a go at this dish after seeing the pictures. I used a sachet of Shaheen onion masala as I have no base of my own at the moment. The recipe I followed was more like Naga's version than the original recipe. I have to say it's a very nice curry, though I have never ordered one from a takeaway or restaurant. I reduced the amount of sugar as 3 tsp would be too sweet for me I think.
