The wife adn I are in Birmingham this weekend for the big punk all dayer at the ballroom. Definitely want to try a Brum BiR whilst there...would you recommend this place for a sit-in meal on Friday? OR somewhere else?

Chewy's gravy has marvelous results, as does CA's Gravy( https://curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php?topic=3772.0 )...both seem to take approx 1 hour, so not far from your requirements.

Hi Guys

Been away from UK for about 10 years until last year, so well out of touch with best restaurants nowadays. Anyhow, wife and I want to go out for a nice BiR on Friday for my birthday. Everytime I think I found a good place to go, I see bad reviews on sites etc...

Soooo, any suggestions for a nice licenced BiR near Hebden Bridge/Halifax/Sowerby Bridge etc?

TIA

I goto Paris several times a year, and I avoid French Indian Restaurants like the plague.
Just as the Indian foods were adapted for BIR, the French adapted their Indian food to be bland and dissappointing. Particularly avoid Saravana Bhavan on Rue du Faubourg St Denis. My wife and I had a very very bad experience in there last year.

Chapatti flours I have had great success with are:
Pilsbury Atta (Asda I think)
Elephant Atta (medium Brown)

Been making this base along with CA's Jalfrezi and Madras since I joined the site. I do strain the base through a seive as per CT method which I find adds another depth though.

Great base that I'm in no rush to change. Only difference is I use Kashmiri chili powder in recipe instead of normal chili powder.

Lets Talk Curry / Recomendations please

Hi All

I tried CA's base/spice mix and made several of his Jalfrezi, which were really very good and "almost" BIR.

I'm a little reluctant to change what isn't broke, but with such a wealth of recipes on this site, I think I'd be foolish to stick at the first one I tried!

Does anyone have any recommendations for a base/mix/recipe that would work well together? Our favourite dishes being dopiaza, jalfrezi, madras.

On another note...Chapati...I've tried several atta and never got one that was like a BIR chapati, until yesterday. I got some Pilsbury Atta after trying many others, and this one certainly comes the nearest for a soft, light chapati. Hope that helps someone in their search!

Thanks in advance for any recommendations
