QuoteHas anyone else given this base a go? It's a cracker IMO

I haven't tried it, but now that I'm out of base, I may give it a go.

To be honest, the one thing that deterred me was that it didn't seem to use much oil, compared to the amount of veg. I've always found better results with bases with more oil content.

Ray - why did you settle on 200ml?

Domi - I think you use Admin's base, but how would you compare it to BE, SnS, or any of the more common ones?

Hi Josh ;)

I used admins base for madras/vindaloos mainly but it didn't work as well with other recipes IMO. I've used SnS's base but I wasn't overly impressed with that, I found it to be a bit weak and by far preferred Ca's base up to trying Razor's. I had 4/5 bases on my to do list before trying this one and since using this one I haven't wanted to try the others as I'm extremely happy with the results I've had (I've made it six or seven times and never had a curry that wasn't top notch, regardless of recipe used in conjunction with it) - I even made a vindaloo/korma cross dish that was beautiful but I can't remember what I did as I'd been on the Magners lol.

It's become my fave base so far - I've not even made Admin's base since I've been using Razor's :o

Don't worry about the lack of oil either...I've had a good yield of oil over every dish so far (I add around 3 tblsp to start my final dish and I don't reclaim, just stir it in).

I'm going to give BE's base a go next - I'll post up pics etc later ;)

Hi jb ;)

I reckon if he's got any business sense he's not going to tell you much at all on over-the-phone questioning, he's wanting to get your brass before he coughs up I reckon ;D but you'll get to know what he's offering exactly :)

Good luck and fingers crossed! :)

I've eaten at a few of these places, fair assessment BigDel...though I'd say you've overrated the cinnamon lounge at Flockton Moor...I live quite close to them and I've only tried them once (once bitten, twice shy lol) but their reputation locally is poor. Pricey too. If you're ever over in Hudds, I recommend Mumbai Spice on Bradford Road (newly opened) it used to be The Ashbrow pub...good food, a bit more expensive than some and quality and service are very good indeed.

It's not about stopping non curry chat - that's what it's there for and adds to the site for me and i'm sure a lot of members. beef, chips whatever it is - it's well worth posting when there is value to the membership.

the issue is all about the value of the post - there is chat and post - we're currently (and have done so off and on in the past) doing both in post and that's not good for anyone. trouble is at the mo chat is more to the detriment of post.

the real worry for me is that no one inc CA seems interested in pushing our BIR learning.

ps quality of posting is spot on today for me

Sorry, Jerry I was referring to comments made about topics posted in the off-topic section. I appreciate that off-topic chat/banter can be annoying in threads and have taken on board what you said, luv ;) Consider my wrist slapped lol ;D

Hi Nipper ;)

Bart09 mentions cox's bazaar hot sprinkler in this thread (about half-way down the page):

https://curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php?topic=1514.0

I haven't noticed Bart09 posting for some time, maybe sending him a PM might help? He does mention a recipe book by "pat chapman called bangladeshi restaurant curries"...might also be worth checking out ;)

Hope this helps ;)

I think rather than complaining that people aren't talking about curry, wouldn't it be better to actually start discussions that ARE curry related to get people talking rather than whinging and causing more bad feeling about topics posted in the OFF TOPIC section (it is what it's there for, after all!) ???
