Hi Paul,

Welcome to the forum, as kid curry has said any base will do they are all very similar but for starting out I would recommend the Bruce Edwards:

https://curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php?topic=2815.0

I tend to make batch of sauce and leave enough in the fridge that will be used up within a week then freeze the rest in curry sized amounts.

Again looking to Bruce using the recipe in the principle of tandoori cooking chapter.
First Question comes here, whats P.L.J ?

This is lemon juice

Then the curry recipe
Here I have a few more Questions, excuse my ignorance,
The spice mix I take it that is the one in Bruce's book again also in the FAQ's thread but what is tandoori masala ? I did find a link in a thread but it was broken.

Yes the spice mix is the same as the one in the F.A.Q.  Tandoori Masala is an off the shelf spice mix, I personally use Rajah spices as Asda sell them very cheap.  I have attached a picture of the very one I use.

2?x1? piece of creamed coconut (or to taste) What is this and what does 2?x1? mean.
Think thats it the rest I have/can get from the posts in the threads, unless you spot mistakes here.

This is an error with the forum software, it is meant to represent a 2x1 inch piece of creamed coconut.  You can also use the sachet variety as well which I have had great results with.

Cheers

Yep it's all part of the same scam, on the front free recipes but you soon find out you need to buy their spices as strangely enough they are unavailable elsewhere  ::)

Good to see Andy's dying site there as well, says it all when it comes to scammers, 15 quid ebook anyone :D

Hi Squealky,

Welcome to the forum, you will find that lot's of people love the Khris Dhillon base sauce\gravy but are not so keen on the individual curry's.  Have a dig round the site and ask away  ;)

I'm sure the high amount of salt is correct KC, for me an excessive amount of salt is key to getting the BIR taste.

Hi Bod68,

The idea is that you can make as much as you like as long as you measure the same out for each, so 3 teaspoon's or 3 tablespoons of each it doesn't matter.  I would make a larger batch so that you have enough for a few curry's as you will use it quite often.

It looks like this one is equal measurements of:

cumin,
coriander,
turmeric,
curry powder

It should go darker the longer you cook it after it's been blended.
