What is in the "special bend of herbs and Spice"

I know I should be the last to ask, but I am asking....

Sorry for the late response Garp,

Work getting in the way of Life I am afraid but also glad of, work was a bit bleak a few weeks ago and I still need cash to buy ingredients, as well as paying the bills.

I followed the original Mick/Taz base and whilst I was sceptical at first (it was the one used in Stephen Lindsay's Punjabi Masala I think), I always have to try stuff myself as we are not all the same and different people like different things.

As for the CTM recipe, I did mention I have been lurking for quite a long time and tried many recipes from many posters, founders and recent?  So the recipe I settled on is a bit of a mish-mash to get the taste as close to what I wanted (and the wife used to) from atleast 3 different posters.  I put it together, printed it out and have a laminate of it for easy reference without having to try to find the different posts and remember what I did last time, so No, not a traditional BIR and hence why I was a bit cryptic and didn't give it when I posted about "splitting", except that I like a creamy texture.

Later today I will have some chicken marinaded and ready to pre-cook so that I can try the Punjabi Masala, which reads and looks very much like a "Boti Tikka" dish I love and used to be able to get until my favourite TA closed, moved, and lost his head chef... I have been searching for a long time without success to replicate it.

I wished to try a new Base and there have been some recently that I was going to try but I was delayed and other members tried them and posted their opinions.

Then a few days ago, a link was made to quite an old post, a post which is almost my "Nirvanna* and I had not found.

Result, I made Taz curry base, as it is the base used.  And since I have a pan of it on a low simmer, I figured I might make a dish I have made many times before to compare it to, hence the Subject.  Also it ties into my Splitting post.

It was delicious and now I have to add it to the list I will make for 'International Football nights' when they restart soon.  The list is getting longer than the number of people that I can fit in front of my TV!

The 'other' dish I hope to make tomorrow...

Welcome A Board

I am sorry, I do not know, but if anybody does, I am sure they are here and will respond in due course.

Latif,

I am sorry if I am going to be a bit critical here but 'Delli Beli' and other names for food poisoning exist because of bad food preparation techniques and should be called out.
00:30, handling raw chicken and then picking up cooked/marinated chicken pieces!

You shoud really edit out 16:38 - 18:02 as it comes from a different pan and looks nothing like the CTM you cooked but it also looks like you over season with salt.

On a peronal note, it also looks different to the CTM I have had at local restaurants, not something I would have ordered a second time.

For me, Curry is a Passion, it is a Love and also a necessity for a cheap, nourishing and flavoursome meal.
Some of my family appreciate this and for others the same applies to sausage, bacon, egg & chips (hash browns), which I can agree with on occasion.

For me, the 'itch' is most scratchy when I see a stack of my empty containers.

Thank you for posting this ChickenTroll  ;)

I posted about the tomato Puree in Latif's Base Gravy, compared to in his curries and whilst I now know he uses KTC Paste rather than KTC chopped tomatoes (which I use) and ends up with 700ml from a 400g tin for the curry, I am still guessing at the Base Gravy.

Since Latif is being so accurate, why oh why use that Balti dish for the water, why not chuck that in a measuring jug, say what it is and pour that in.  Still, he is getting better and I am actually interested in watching the curry he mentions at the end.  East End products as well.

Thank you.

Ouch! That is Hot.

For me, here is a forecast/warning released just this morning although TV forecasters have been hinting at it since the weekend.

"Thanks to a stiff breeze, with gusts of more than 20 miles per hour, it will feel much colder, around -6C at times.  There is also a small chance of sleet in the early hours tomorrow.

"There will also be some wintry showers about, mainly over hills and mountains but also to some lower levels at times, most likely in parts of Scotland and northern, eastern and central England.

"The first widespread snow of the year has also been forecast for this weekend.  The Met Office is predicting a 50-60 per cent chance of snow between midnight and 9am on Saturday"

Where I live, it is 720ft (220m) above sea level, so we will see some snow.

I will most likely be searching the many excellent Vindaloo recipes tomorrow before heading out shopping, to make sure I have all the ingredients I need, including a 7kg sack of onions as I am down to my last 2 or 3 loose at the bottom of the sack.

All of my family, from my Great Grandparents (god rest them) to my parents, siblings and extended have always been taught never to talk about Religious, Political or Fiscal matters at the dinner table (My father insisted on it and has confiscated mobile phones at the table, I just have to look at my family with one and they are soon put away somewhere out of arms reach!)... and this being a forum about food, the preparation and presentation of, I am uncomfortable.

I know my personal views and I withhold them.  However....

The process before the vote by all those involved, the MP's the media, the organisations and the EU I find greedy, untrustworthy, scandalous and possibly unlawful, that is for the courts to decide.
However, the application after the vote by those same organisations I find to be the same and abhorrent.

We know almost nothing more about what WILL happen after the vote than what was claimed before the vote because nobody is being honest and unfortunately, that is Politics, Business and similarly, strictly for clairvoyants*, psychics*, tarot readers*, astrologists*, etc*

I find the whinging about whether people voted or not and whether they will or not and which way they will, etc. on a second to be futile (see *).  However, the margin of Success over Defeat was not sufficient for me to have been decisive and I would like to see defined criteria before anything similar happens in the future, that adequately defines the thresholds for Success and Defeat and the middle ground that declares it void, at which it should be re-held - then abandoned if it fails again - not just BREXIT.

My one overriding feeling is that EVERYBODY is blaming everybody else and that Democracy has been severely eroded because...

They all gave in because the job was just too hard.  "They couldn't agree on the colour of shite" - film quote.
