If we go out to n Italian I have never eaten Pizza there, I usually go for the Seafood dishes & I haven't ordered a TA pizza for a long time, think it was from Pizza Express in the early 90's, I much prefer to make my own now,  I use Jamie Olivers pizza dough & tomato sauce then I usually get a pack of Italian meats from Asda along with mushrooms, but really you can do whatever you want.
When I do make the trip to Morrisons I do like there Chicken Tikka Pizza but don't tell anyone ;)

i'm not that convinced anymore that BIR or curry is bad for you. in fact i'm strongly positive on the health aspects.

my recent back trouble was down to not enough magnesium (for muscle strength). when i looked at how i could up this (and other important body chemicals using Axe's pointer on the food website) i was taken aback by how much spices offer of the good things that the body needs.

put this together with all the vegetables, tom puree, garlic, ginger then i'm sure it beats most foods well into the distance.

even the verdict on coconut is still not that clear even though it's technically high sat fat.

that leaves the veg oil and salt as the only downers.
I agree also with the health benifits of spices, it has recently been proven that chilli is good for your heart as chilli relaxes the arteries, i know from fact that it relaxes my bowls, more vindi for me please!

Never played bowls but my dad does, I will tell him to try some chilli it might stop him snatching his shots by being more relaxed   ;D

sorry I couldn't resist it ;D

But I too think curries in general are not at all unhealthy 8)

Rather than buying a curry from Asda George, I would recommend you cook Lorrydoos CTM, it is pretty easy to do, not at all unhealthy compared to an Asda curry in my honest opinion, not that they are unhealthy either (I don't know there ingredients), but you know what has gone in to the CTM.  You like blades tikka so give it a whirl, it is far better than any shop bought curry I have ever had and probably quicker than going to Asda, looking for your curry etc etc (presuming you have the spices tho ;))

lol George - this is really better than anything you have cooked from this forum?
and I think the question was meant, as I suspect you already know to mean something cooked from this forum

After I read your comment above, I went to look at p&j's pilau rice but it doesn't look like anything of the sort! Rice, water and salt is the starting point but, as with many threads, it looks as vague as the Undercover book, in terms of what spices to add. What spices and quantities produce the best flavour for you?

Hi,

Generally I always gently fry three green cardamom pods bruised, three cloves, one Asian bay leaf and an inch of cinnamon stick per portion ( Sometimes I throw in a star anise), then when these are infused in the oil I add fennel until it crackles then I follow the recipe. I use these spices as in general this is what I get in my pilau from the local takeaway.  I guess you could put others in to suit your own palate or turmeric for colour.  I use a ceramic hob and six minutes on the hob then six min off the hob works well.

So far I would say Mick/Taz's Dopiaza Madras strength along with blades tikka, it just seems to hit the mark time after time.  I always do it with peterandjens pilau rice - works every time once you get the timings right for you cooker & adjust the spices to you personal preference.

And the 'contributing member' guilt-trip inducer just makes me less inclined to contribute.  >:(

Where is this referenced?, I haven't come across it?

Ray :)

I contributed a while ago & I never got a "contributing member" title, a thanks or any recognition for doing so which I never expected anyway, but I don't care as I just like the website & that is why I contributed.  So I am sure SS that you don't have to have the contributing member title on you name if you wish to contribute.

I do get the odd deli one from Asda to take to work & they are pretty good, I do like there chapatis though they are great which is funny really as I am not a fan of them in BIR's as I much prefer naans.  I have also looked for the Sag Aloo from Morrisons but do not shop there very often and have never seen it either.
I agree about Sainsburys they are rubbish.

Yep, well said Domi & Razor.

George, you are just being too picky, you can read what is mean't to be read or you can scrutinze (hope thats spelt right :-\ ) but the latter detracts from what good people are trying to achieve and share amongst us all, and it could put people off from posting.  Everyone seems to agree we are looking for a very small percentage of the finished article to make many BIR quality meals, but hear you are complaining about very small details.
Lighten up
Or you could always offer to proof read everyones posts?  ;) so we can all post to u're satisfaction.
::)

oh & welcome to the forum bmouthboyo enjoy ;D

Great posts jb, I wish I could get into a kitchen.  It would be interesting to hear about the chilli sauce and the onion paste
