Hiya, i like watching Saturday kitchen, its entertaining as well as...how can i say this....well it makes me bloody hungry!! (think thats the correct spalling).

The tandoori chuck looked nice and tasty, lots of mention of how the yoghurt helps keep the chicken moist too, which is a good point. As are the remarks about Tandoor chef's only having hair on one arm :) where do the missing hairs go though??.
The chefs, both James and the Indian guy, whose name i've forgotten, both said that a Charcoal Tandoor gives a much better result, so if you was gonna get one, get a charcoal jobbie. I don't think they meant don't get one at all.
I always call Naan bread Naan bread, it is a bread, unleavened i think. But it don't matter, shit, if you ask a waiter for a Naan or a Naan bread, you get the same end result.
Right im orf to trawl through the thorums and sea whot iv mised then im gonna goo and reed sum moor shakespeare.

September 10, 2010, 09:20 AM
Hi Chris and everyone, i would like to put forward the Bhaji recipe that i put up a while back, basically because its simple and really does taste good, if nothing else it would do as a basis around which to judge the other recipes.
Heres the link:-

Most spice mixes seem to use a few basic ingredients
Corriander
Cumin
Paprika
Turmeric
Curry powder, usually rajah
If you keep these handy then he should be able to use them if needed for making the mix.
Also as you are paying for this lesson, dont be polite when a question springs to mind, ask it and if you dont understand the answer, then ask again until you do.

Well as a proud English man i am glad to say that i never once allowed myself to be put under the impression that we had any chance whatsoever of getting to the final.

When i said i would join in with this i said i would follow the recipe to the letter regardless of what my common sense says.
If the recipe says mix then cook, then i mix then cook.
If the recipe says allow to rest/marinade or whatever then ill do that.
It is obvious that a piece of meat thats had spice added to it will taste different when left to rest than it would when freshly mixed. Its a shame because of the 5 recipes were using only 1 has a resting period.
Its the same with the cooking method, i didn't really like the appearance of one kebab but were not judging on looks.

Nope no egg/spud or panch phoran and definately no sugar. Just a simple and clean tasting onion bhaji.
