Quote from: Razor on July 20, 2012, 09:14 AM...Even now, looking through my TA menu's...

I can hardly believe that it didn't occur to me to look at TA menu recipe descriptions for ideas!

As it turns out, I was a Dhansak virgin until earlier this month when I tried out CA's version followed by 976bar's, both of which were excellent offerings.

I shouldn't be surprised though as, out of 5 local TA menus, 2 don't describe the dish at all while the others are listed as: "cooked with lashings of lentils and eastern spices"; "a lentil based parsee dish"; and, "cooked with lentils".

It's hardly inspiring, is it? These descriptions don't exactly grab you by the throat and shout "EAT ME!".

Slightly off topic I know, but I have to say that, since I started cooking the various member recipes here, I've realised how mediocre the local trade cuisine is.

I would have a plate full Bob no problem, looks Yum.

I had a plate (actually, 2 now) and it is definitely all of that! It's a top class dish and well worth making to spec. :)

Hi Ray,

Good tip for the handles - thanks!

I'll be going for your revised recipe - after all, if it has superceded your previous revisions, I'd be daft not to try the recipe you consider to be the best. :D

Well, I've just finished doing a large batch of pre-cooked chicken at the weekend, so I won't be needing any tikka for a while, but I think I'll have a go at Razor's seekh kebab pretty soon. Probably next week some time as my fridge is bursting at the seams with fresh food at the mo!

The photo isn't great, but the 50p on the left gives an idea of scale.

Just got these skewers through the post - 6.99GBP +3.49GBP P&P from a well-known auction site.

I'm no expert, but these stainless steel 55cm x 8mm square section skewers certainly look the business and the price is definitely right.

No more spinning meat from now on! :D

Aye, mate. There is a Makro down the other end of the motorway from me, but like my Costco card, I ditched the Makro one as I couldn't go into either place without spending

Thanks for this recipe, 976bar. I made it up according to spec, but using leg of pork (it's half-price per kilo at Tesco!) instead of the lamb. Very nice indeed, especially with a nice, authentic Greek salad accompaniment. Lovely, in fact! :D
