People try the hottest peppers for the adrenalin rush and the release of endorphins that give you a natural high.
The superhot chillies cause pain that in turn causes the brain to release endorphins (natural pain reliever) giving the person a high, which is followed by a feeling of great relaxation once the 'burn' of the chilli has subsided.
It can become a form of addiction in the search for both the next chilli hit and the quest to eat the hottest pepper ! Currently the Carolina Reaper is the official hottest pepper, but there are definately hotter out there that are still at an F4 or earlier stage and cannot be officially tested as they are not stable.
I have tried nearly all the superhots but only in small quantities, although I did eat a full brainstrain chilli once that had me dancing around the kitchen for a good 20 minutes, it certainly released the endorphins, and was followed by a feeling of great calmness and well being, but the next day I had stomach cramps like I have never experienced before and thought at one point I would need an ambulance! ;D
Still not as pleasurable as the mushroom option  :)

Curry Base Chat / Pressure Cooker Base

I have just bought a relatively cheap electric pressure cooker from fleabay, my first ever pressure cooker! :D

My main purpose was for base gravies, but I am discovering so much more that can be done in a pressure cooker after Gav kindly sent me some cookery books.

Anyway last night it served its purpose which I bought it for as I made Chewy's version and I have to say it was very good indeed, so easy and quick, I can't believe I have never used/owned one before !!
Well worth the

I also remember chatting to the manager of my local British Indian Restaurant,  living in the IOM at the time. He was quite shocked at the idea of mixing powdered spice. And insisted they buy premixed spice.

Garam Masala is not included in the ingredients listing, neither is mild Madras. Yet another mix powder.

According to the ingredient list the main spice is chilli powder? Or maybe they are all equal quantities, but then they would be listed alphabetically

How about finding out who wants to attend then pick a place closest to all participants?

Thanks Livo, all received, thanks for sharing.
It is the balti masala mix powder I am most interested in, I normally use Mangal Balti masala, but I'm having trouble finding any these days

It is copyright material so I'll send you a PM, rather than muddy the water.

Thanks Livo, is the book worth owning in your opinion?
