Messages - Onions

Discord is a messaging app. Phil, could this be moved to a  new section, unrelated to Madras curry powders as it is.

Because Discord is to bulletin boards what punk was to rock and roll? And yes, I the average age here is probably ~58.   :owsome:

Reverse image search gets it though.

I've decided to pick a powder from East End, TRS or MDH Kitchen King. Has anyone tried any of them?

Bith East End and TRS are excellent, CMUK-my local Turkish grocers sell just them!

Which one smells less pungent?

We're currently working our way through a big bag of East End, so I can't really compare of the top of my head. But I can say that EE isn't very pungent, so there's a good chance TRS is more pungent.

I guess that was probably a less than definitive answer I'm afraid  ;)

And unlike my fellow Brits back home, I can't just go out and get takeaway.

Don't worry Robbo

what we get these days is not a patch on what we got in the late 60's/early 70's.

The obvious difference would be the salt (and sugar, probably oil) usage.

From the same team, the "one-pot Indian chicken curry" looks worth investigating.  There is a lovely bit in the voice-over at 02:36 where she says "... and cook it 'till your kitchen smells like Indian food" !  The chicken masala has some interesting ingredients, too :  equal quantities of turmeric, amchoor, mace powder, dry ginger powder, Kashmiri red chilli powder, nigella seeds, and black salt.

Perhaps separate the post re. the chicken curry into a new thread Phil? I think a lot of readers wold like to see it, but atm it's kind of buried in the middle of a vindaloo thread. So if someone doesn't like vindaloo, they'll also miss out on a nice little curry.

I'm doing this as we speak: just put in chicken + marinade-what a great colour! Lovely golden-brown I've not seen in a long time. Should be a good 'un, and I imagine even more so on a reheat!

And I am delighted to be able to report that they have very kindly agreed to take on board my request for a traditional murgh-e-mussalam recipe (whole spring chicken stuffed with keema and boiled eggs), and will be looking into producing one in due course.

Also new-thread worthy!  :)

Note: From last night, but wouldn't load.

Alternatively (or in addition), as we still have only two moderators, why don't you offer your services as moderator of the "Off-topic replies" thread ?  You could then do with it as you saw fit.

** Phil.

To clarify (for everyone), I don't have the tool to split threads, or move individual posts. All I can do is delete or modify them. So if you swear, I will modify the post (presumably), and if it becomes non-productive hot air, I will delete it (as you have seen), but I can't do anything in between. I mean,  I'm currently the moderator of this thread-and there's nothing I can do with it at all, except kill/morph selected posts

SMF provide for a multi-layered forum administura. I for one welcome any new overlords!
