Storage / Re: Great Storage Containers
November 27, 2012, 08:05 AM
Well spotted! I bought 670ml Tesco containers for my spices and, while cheap, they cost a hell of a lot more than GBP3.97! CH, here's a link to the website and you can check if there's a store local to you. :)

I WAS going to reply to this thread, then I decided it was MUCH more important to search for some old p!sh to get offended at.....

No interest? I think you underestimate yourself, mate! If the dishes taste anyway as good as they look, they'll be delicious! :)

And, Stephen, I'll be trying your Punjabi Masala very soon! I'd be interested in your Mushroom Bhaji recipe too.

Quote from: sp on June 26, 2012, 10:11 PMHiya, I'm Fochabers in Moray...

I get Tesco frozen chicken breast at GBP3.99/kilo. I find ASDA's equivalent is rather slimy when defrosted.

Off topic, I know, but "Fochabers" is my favourite swear word in polite company - it can be uttered with real feeling! :)

I must have a dig around the search facility and get these recipes. I've got the Punjabi Masala recipe, but the keema rice, special rice and mushroom bhaji look fantastic too!

Quote from: Axe on November 19, 2012, 10:49 AM...can I point you to the following Chicken Jalfrezi. ...

Well, I made this tonight more or less to the spec provided by Axe and my verdict? Delicious! Nothing like the bland curry I prepared last night at all.

Because I made the dish at short notice, I replaced the Chef's Masala Paste with the Zaal Red Masala Paste from the freezer, the ground aniseed with ground star anise, and the chilli pickle with my own volcano-hot Chilli Jam which I made fresh earlier this afternoon.

I suppose it could be argued that those 3 replacement ingredients may have changed the recipe significantly, but hey ho! I thoroughly enjoyed it and that, for me, was the main objective.

Sadly, my good lady wife couldn't partake as she prefers to hold on to her tastebuds, but that only means that Part II is in the fridge for me tomorrow! :)

Thanks again to Axe and to UF, whose suggestion I'll try as soon as I get some Kewra water.

Made a version of this today. I mostly stuck to the recipe, but, as I didn't sort my varied chilli crop before freezing it in a number of bags, I just grabbed a couple of handfuls from the freezer rather than counting out specific chillis.

It's just cooling now before I get it into sterilised, former Sharwoods Mango Chutney jars and, boy! it is hot, Hot HOT!

Tastes very nice, though and a good teaspoon of this stuff will certainly enliven a curry! Ring of Fire, here I come! :)
