Hi all,

Just a little update on the book.

I made for the first time a chicken tikka chasni and used this books recipe and method other than using razors base and dips tikka.
It is the first time i have tasted a Chasni so dont know if it was BIR standard.

I have got to say though i can see why its the most popular curry over the boarders as we all really enjoyed it.

Alan ;D

will be making it again very soon methinks ;D

Good work all round Ray. ;)

interested in your wifes comment asking you if it was a different recipe you used.

considering i assume the only change you made to the recipe was the more concentrated base.

i wonder why that is :-\

jalfrezi looked great mate.

my onion paste does not look as red as yours mate, am i doing something wrong?

also you went to par boiling the veg as opposed to stir fry. do you think this also makes a difference?

i am going to deffo give this a try.

samson,

I totally agree with the red chilli sauce recipe. I must admit i wont even attempt that recipe because just by reading it i knew it was not a chilli sauce from a TA.

saying that i have looked at most of the recipes in the book and there is a lot which i will do.

personally i think there will be something in the book for everyone to try.

jb,

i got it as well and like you found it very interesting.

I think his recipe for doner meat will beat the real thing in the sense that it wont be as greasy.

i thought the chicken tikka recipe looked good as well.

good book defo worth ?3.77

Ray,

I must admit its a great idea what you are doing.

To be honest your base doesnt see out the week at my home ;D so space saving is not an issue for me at the mo.

please keep us all updated though as i am very interested how this works out for you.

well pleased for you ray. :)

is this just for space saving or are you also trying to create a better base?

sounds like you are well pleased with your first try mate. ;D

I know you like to perfect your methods before releasing them.

but if you ever want a second opinion as always i will give it a try.

very good point eminj,

i dont think anyone could be certain for sure if they used a base or not.

but i reckon in that era at the very least they roasted and grounded all there own spices.

no garlic in a curry :o

to be honest when i ate in there i did not give it much thought  about the dish other than it was poor and bland and i wont be eating there again.

i was really looking forward to my meal too, as inside the restraunt it looked the part.

i do like a good stiffado or kleftiko in cyprus so go between them most of the time :P
