Thanks for the replies guys.
I think i'll just have to double or triple up on what ive made so far when making my next CTM , and start another batch from fresh using chefspoons.
I dont know when that'll be as CTM isnt really my cup of tea anymore. I just wanted to nail another dish.  ;)

Cheers, Frank. :)

Hi natterjak,
I was given my big pot when i first left home and its one of the most used items in my kitchen. Sadly, i've never had the pressure lid part so it has just been used as a stock/soup/rice/pasta/curry pot. well...everything really  :D
It measures 24cm dia, and holds exactly 6ltrs to the brim.
I keep meaning to saw the brackets off that would hold the lid as these get in the way for a colander to sit and steam properly. Another job to add to the 10 year waiting list  :P ::)

So i'll say again,, To all the curry cookin electric sufferin hob users, Ditch that wee pan and use yer big yin  ;D

Cheers, Frank  ;)

Hmmm,  well.... thats exactly what i did in the end.
What did you think of the paste?
Because i thought after i used a chef spoon (4 tbsp) to make a CTM, it was blander than a supermarket jar.  :o
So i thought there mustve been some chef spoon measurements in the 2nd stage.  ??? and i had guessed wrongly.
It had a good flavour on its own but 1 chefspoon to make a CTM is nowhere near enough.
The only other CTM recipe ive tried from here was CA's when, i think, he had 6 tbsp coconut milk powder.
I thought there was so much of everything you could've thinned it to 3 portions and still kick a punch  ;D
Man that was rich.  :o

Has anybody else made a CTM with this paste yet?

Cheers, Frank.

I'd say you was a bit rushed there  natterjack, especially with the onions.
They were big pieces and need a lot longer cooking.
Overall, it looks a job well done.  :)
I'd be interested in your masala paste recipe as i havent had any answers to my questions yet in the paste thread  ???

And the mess! I hate it, and so i decided for my last dozen or so curries to use my big saucepan/pressure cooker base. Yes shock horror :o :o
I've been wanting to say for a while now for all of us that are stuck with cooking on electric.
If your intent Isn't to flame the pan, then Dont bother with a silly little frying pan.  ;)
I can make the exact same tasting curry in my aluminium pressure cooker base as a 24cm omlette pan!
What seems the important factor to me is the diameter of the pan.
The small curry pan is great for gas but pointless in my opinion for electric.
Save yourself the mess and use a big saucepan  ;D

The hills can be an obstruction sometimes though. Thats where you have the advantage  :)
There's some hills around here where you can look DOWN on the jets  ;D

Astrophotography is something i'd love to get into. One day.. ;)
There was some great amateur photos shown on the recent Stargazing live extra programme's on the BBC.
Great detail with relatively basic equipment.
A motorised telescope is on me list.  :D

Nice one Mick, It really is a good sight to see. Hopefully will get better over the next few days.
Wish i had a decent camera because i wouldve driven up the hills here and set up a tripod.

Bassar curry masala is pretty good stuff (I have been using it as my primary spice blend for about six years), but it definitely isn't Kashmiri Mirch (Kashmiri chilli); have a look at KD1/PT for a way to try your Bassar curry masala.

** Phil.

I'd agree with you Phil on the bassar. And Deggi is Much hotter than kashmiri. I made that mistake thinking that they were both mild and  making my dad a curry which was too hot for him.  :(

Two revelations for me since joining this forum are bassar masala and panch poran.
Both are fantastic blends for making great curries!
