The correct term for this Bacteria is "bacillus cereus" :o

And yes CP you are quite right Rice is a vey dangerous product it can actually KILL YOU :o

Vomiting and abdominal pains with Diarrhoea can be indications of "bacillus cereus" infection.
If anyone needs to reheat rice ensure the temp exceeds 70-75C (160-170F) for at least 5-8 Min's to ensure the rice is heated thoroughly.

Never take risks when in doubt throw it out rice is relatively cheap and it's not worth taking risks.

As I've already stated to hotbot in another thread PLEASE DO NOT follow any recipes down to the last gram you will very rarely replicate a dish (if ever) that someone else has made just remember LOOK TASTE ADD if needed. You will find  the more you try the more observant you will become.
You could try draining /skimming off the unwanted oil and add further ingredients to this base such as Tomato puree or Pasata or you could boil + blend some more onions and add this to your oily base this will absorb the excess oil and give a better flavour.

On a brighter note the recipes on this website are far better than in the KD book and if there's anything you are not sure of ask and someone will help you.

Recipes are only guidelines they shouldn't be followed to a T as you put it you should look / taste and add accordingly if you think it needs it. The only recipes that must be followed to a T is things like Pastry.

Anyway don't be disheartend try again but next time if you can SEE the oil content is to small add more it's better to add to much then you can drain it of later if needed.
