Pictures of Your Curries / Curry Cooking Weekend
March 30, 2018, 10:47 PM
A couple of times a year I take a batch of curries though to my pal's in Edinburgh and we have a bit of a  curry feast. My partner and my pal's wife are vegetarian so I always do a some non-meat curries as well. This gives me a chance to cook some recipes that wouldn't always be my fist choice but I do enjoy them too. Indian vegetarian cuisine of course well established, though my repertoire is somewhat limited.

Today I have made all these curries to take through tomorrow evening. Here are my efforts from  today - 8 curries in all. Each photo shows a general shot and a close up. Hope you like them!

Nice one Naga.  Got my mouth watering like so many of the recent posts.  Glad the pickle worked out ok.  I've got a couple of jars of Ferns in the cupboard which is well aged and could probably do justice to this dish.  Malai tikka is on the radar.

Good to see you online CH!

Hello kjvkw

I'm not a great lover of prawns so I never cook with them but I can see no reason why these, fish and other seafood wouldn't work in this recipe.

Lets Talk Curry / Re: Fried chapati ?

I have made Pooris before. Given that they are a simple unleavened bread, comprising flour and water (with salt if preferred), then the recipe is identical to that for chapatis. They are then deep fried in hot oil and they puff up when they are cooking. So, that sense, yes I have deep fried chaptis,

Who knew there were two lol? Ah well, fame isn't everything. I bet your curries are better! :)

I was also a fairly well-known semi-pro musician in Dundee so the confusion was not infrequent!

I'm not objecting at all to the forum posting a recipe of mines as it is indeed given over to them and I totally understand and accept the rules of this site.. However the photo (i.e. the one I took) is from the recipe for Madras with Taz Base not any other recipe. The accompanying text, is not what I originally posted, but I suspect it has originated from mine and been edited due to some of the phrasing. Note also that it does not start with oil (which is the Taz method) but that it specifies any type of base. Well most other base recipes won;t have as much oil as Taz which is why there is no oil to start off the cooking process in Taz recipes. This recipe is therefore pretty inaccurate. I doubt it has been cooked to spec.

I am highly amused as this discovery and a little bemused that someone seems to be passing it off as theirs.

C'est la vie.

BTW, did I hear your name mentioned in a BBC Radio Scotland documentary on The Associates a couple of weeks ago?

The Associates were indeed from the same city and era as me. If they mentioned my name I assume they meant the other "Stephen Lindsay" who was a Scottish singer in the band The Big Fish. Not unless they too were looking to plagiarise my curry recipes!
