Gary your Ashoka posts were brilliant and I've never forgotten them but a few who have contributed to this thread became active after they were posted. I think it's a time thing and in no way reflects on the importance of your contribution.

Panpot stuck the Ashoka report up Stephen. Parker did Mouchak among others if I remember right

I'd agree a Tbl of mix powder is too much for an individual curry.
The problem for me being the flash fry method of cooking it. Like most foods, spice tastes better cooked longer, either in the base or a paste.
The ebooks are cheap enough & there's normally something in them worth the price of the book imo

Welcome Arhoolie.
Haven't been in Yadgar for a while, but had some great curries from there.
Anarkali up the road a bit used to dish out the biggest portions i've ever seen.

Hi blanchy, no you don't want a butter flavour through your base. Veg ghee/ veg oil or sunflower oil are fine.

Great posts sp. My local doesn't use powders either & i've stopped using them a good while ago.
They do use whole spices in the gravy, finished dish,& whole spices boiled in water akhini stock to flavour it. I'm glad to see someone showing more of these methods. Think it may be a Pakistani thing rather than regional.
How do your own curry efforts stack up against the bir?

...or cook a the 4 kg onion base for 3 hrs minimum. Chuck some coconut block in if you want it sweeter. That's why its used

I'd agree with you about raw onion though, the type used in the burger chains are great & can't be bought in supermarkets as far as I know

Hi all!

Does anybody have the ingredient list for eastern star curry powder? I can only find one image of the ingredient list http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41tDK3FeuVL._SY300_.jpg it is far too blurry to make out.

I am going to try and recreate this powder from scratch and will share my findings should I be successful so if anybody could send me a list of the ingredients or even a photo of the packages ingredient list I would be immensely grateful!

Thank you very much
Andrew
Hi Andrew, can I ask why you are trying to make this
