As for coming to Kent haha you get us the gigs and we'll see what we can do :-)
I can think of at least three local venues that might be interested, Jen : two pubs and a social club.  No idea how they do bookings of artistes, though.  If you can make some suggestions as to how best to get them interested, Jen, I will see what I can do, or alternatively I can give you their contact details and leave it to you to make contact.

** Phil.

Best thing to do is ermmmm I'm not sure lol I haven't sang proffessionally for 10 years and only started again a few months ago I just go where I am told when I am told hahaha

The Islands is a Ralph McTell song and it is about the Braer oil spill off the Shetland Isles in January 1993 .

no sorry Phil I started singing after a drunken night in a pub about 16-17 years ago but have never really been a big music listener ( makes no sense I know) although since I started singing I have to admit I love Fairport Convention and Christie Moore is great My ambition is to sing Who knows where the time goes at Fairports Cropredy Festival never happen but can keep dreaming hehehe

Hi and thank you for your comments. Jimmy and I have been recording these tracks for my mam as she is having some very nasty treatment for an illness at the minute and she asked for a song a week to get her through it. All of the stuff we have done has been recorded in my sitting room we had no intention of doing anything with it except to make my mam smile a bit hahaha but now it is going to become a cd called Sitting Room Sessions as it sums up what it is lol. We have really only been messing around with thte songs which is why some of the songs have had harmonies added as I was just interested in seeing if I could do them, some of the songs like Crazyman Michael,Slipjigs and Reels and Ride On I have sung for a long time but others like Wind beneath my Wings and Stuck in the MIddle we learnt as we recorded them (lots of fun).

Thank you again for your comments

Thanks on behalf of Jen :)
Dunno when she'll get to Southern England, she was supposed to be up on the north coast last thursday for 5 days, gigging two or three pubs but snow got in the way.
I'll let her know about this thread and get her to come in and reply :)
Yep she'll pop in as soon as she can.

I can't remember which tv chef made it but there is a sort of Beef wellington where you substitute the beef for salmon, might be Rick stein, he's probably one of the best Sea food Chef's about.
Otherwise there's the Italian route, shellfish carbonara and the likes but thats not really a xmassy feel.
I'll have a mooch about a bit for you.

Might be worth a try, seems easy and has good ratings.
If your using shrooms id go and buy, on top of your fresh ones, a pack of dried shitakis or mixed dried shrooms. Once soaked you've got probably the best tasting mushroom stock there is, in the water that you soaked them in. Add a bit of garlic and splash of white wine, a little cream and pepper and thats a damn good sauce.
Makes a nice chicken and mushroom pie.
