BIR Main Dishes Chat / your favourite madras
April 05, 2010, 01:07 PM
hello to all, at home babysitting today. So was scanning the site looking for a new base and recipe for a madras. Im not disapointed in my efforts so far, far from it and seldom do i make a bad curry now. However, maybe im missing out on a chance to make a truly great curry.

So im thinking what would all here consider the best base and recipe combo on this site that they personaly get the best results from and which till they find anything better they use.

Maybe from this we could find a consensus of which base/curry combination is universally preffered by the majority. what ever gets the best shout is gonna be the one im trying next.

have a nice bank holiday all  :-*( shame about the rain)

oh my god, when i was going for a british tonight, the cook opened the fridge. There was a pie in there.

When he removed the label and threw it in the bin i bent over the counter for a sneaky look. The wrapper was crumpled but im sure it spelt out "pukka"

Im sure there must be an online shop for these pies somewhere.

is this the breakthrough we have been searching for? i hope so cause this search is starting to get right on my t$ts.

hello all, aint been on too much last couple of months. i work away from home and been more away than home, too damn busy.

I finished off the last portion of my base 2 days ago so its base making time again. I love this part of making a curry, a flick through all the base recipies, decieding which to try this time, reading the reviews of the base ect.

i know what my favourite base is so far but wont bother saying, we all have our own ideas. And this is just the point everyone likes diffrent bases and taste, as much as i wouldnt eat a korma someone else would swear by it.

We appear much of the time to be running around in circles missing the big picture ie do i personaly like it. Ive had such diffrent taste and quality of a madras in 100s of bir's that ive come to the conclusion there realy is no elusive taste to be found.

every recipe and base and spice mixture on here pretty much has the same standard items, then on top we give our own twists, im sure this is the same in any bir. We cant see the wood for the trees.

Hi Jimmy. Please, where do you get that quantity of chicken at that price from?

hi gezh

i get that chicken breat from farmfoods, total bargain, however was in there this week and the offer has stopped for the now, it now costs 13.50 ie 4.50 a 1kg pack, the pack has average 6 fairly big breasts. I find 1.5 breasts is plenty for a meal for 2.

even at this higher price its still very cheap, was in morrisons and they were charging near double that, though they did do a bogof offer for a bit.

When the offer comes around again in farmfoods maybe i buy 40 quids worth, damn we go through they breasts pretty fast in my house.
