Tonights Madras

Thanks everyone for such a warm welcome  :) I?m just about to post a pic of the curry I cooked tonight - it was  very moreish to say the least, I wish I?d found this forum when it first started up! I don?t think I?ve ever eaten paneer, but will give it a try. The thing I?m finding difficult at the moment is knowing which base to cook with the individual dishes, at the moment I?m just doing it on a mix and match basis - so far so good! Any advice on this point much appreciated  ;)

Very good point Phil ! Thankyou h4ppy-chris, I had no idea anyone would come up with an answer as all the years I?ve been eating in Indian Restaurants i have only seen it on one menu, I shall  definately be investigating further on this recipe via this forum  :)

Can anyone help here - 15 years or so ago we used to frequent an Indian Restaurant in Newton Abbot, Devon that had this dish on the menu as a main course, my question being is this common in BIR?s or was this a on-off as we have never seen it on a menu since, we have long since moved from that area and as far as I know the restaurant changed hands. It was very distinguisable from other curries as it was green in colour, of medium strength very garlicky and absolutely delicious! Are there any similar recipes on this site that spring to mind with anyone here? Would love to have a go at recreating it (or something very similar) Please bear with mel as I?m a newbie to the forum and will probably ask a few (daft?) questions! Thanks.

Hi,
Just introducing myself, I?m a vegetarian curry addict, what a great forum! - can?t wait to get stuck in with recipes! I prefer the more spicy dishes, such as Madras, Vindaloo or dhansak. I will also be trying a few of the chicken dishes using "Quorn" as a substitute. I had my first attempt at making a base, along with a Madras, and was very pleased with the result but there are so many more to try I hardly know where to begin!! I?ve printed off a few to get me started - I suppose its just a case of trying and perfecting and finding one that suits. Thankfully my husband loves curry too and is quite happy to eat 2 or more a week whilst I am practising. I?ve already got a few questions but will try and stick to posting in the relevant sections.
