Curry Videos / Re: Pudina Murgh Video Recipe

Hi Chewy.
As promised, I tried this one out, and to be fair I was dubious about chicken and mint, (even consideredswappingg the chicken for diced lamb) but believe that the first try at any recipe you should stick to what's advised so I did.

Cooked a fresh batch of your base this afternoon-again turned out brilliantly, then went onto the mint chicken, watched your vid again just to get everything clear, and it turned out spot on, but I will try it with lamb the next time and let you know how it went.

So thanks again  ;D

Sorry, t-c, I should have also mentioned previously that I probably have more cookery books than I care to mention.

And I'm pleased you have such a great collection.

Of those, who, with your knowledge of BIR, taditional, and other cooking, do you, with that vast knowledge do you rate, and what titles? ;D

With all due respect to you Pan, 976bar.
You both make really good and valid points, and yes, in  fairness, in my very short time on this forum, I have picked up more useful, helpful and interesting tips, and advice than any book, bought. But just because this site is so good, it should not stop the users recommending Indian Food Cook Books that they rate and found helpfull.

It took a few weeks searching recipes on the net, and looking on Indian recipes, store before I came upon this site, and yes 976bar, it's a great site and I've picked up so much.  But the question wasn't about who is the best of the best of Indian Cookery writers, its about which writer you guys, with all your experience in cooking both BIR, and traditional Indian food recommend as authors you rate.  Its not about whose the best, as that is so individualist, and personal to you(by that i mean, you click with that writer as you'd do for any other book)
So yes 976, in all honesty, I have learnt more from this forum, than most curry cook books, but I'd happily also recommend authors I have enjoyed, after all learning cooking a good curry doesn't stop with this forum..

Thanks Welshman, Phil I'll be having at look at that book :)

Hi Tempest.
Thanks for that, tbh,to date, I have found Pat Chapman's Curry Bible the most interesting and helpful of the list I originally posted.

I'll have to go back Madhururs' Curry Bible after your post, as I really felt let down by it as you found it so insightful.

I love the different flavours and challenges of Indian food.

Hi Curry.

That picture looks great, and will try this out in the week with Chewy's mint chicken curry.

Madras / Re: Madras Sauce Video Recipe
August 21, 2011, 02:41 PM
Hey Chewy.
I've just watched your mint chicken video, and your right fella, it does look very tasty.  So you won't be surprised to know, I'll be giving this one ago in the week, and will let you know how I get one.
It's gonna sound daft, but if like me, I find someone/product I like and can trust I'll always go back to it, and as I've always had good personal results from your recipe's Chewy, I'll always try the recipes you've rated, they may not turn out as BIR but as as you said practice makes perfect  ;)

Cheers.

Madras / Re: Madras Sauce Video Recipe

Hi Chewy.
I made your madras using your base sauce, and madras recipe and it was delicious, so I polished off the madras I had intended freezing  ;D

This is the first time I've made a madras from start to finish, there are lots of things that I need to practice and learn, but that just takes time.

Thank you :)

Your welcome Pan and hope you find something there of interest to you.

I think it's great people put so much time and effort, to pass on their information into such open source sites.

Thanks for that advice on the restaurant sized pressure cooker, but noooo!  Besides Chewy, after I made yesterdays batch if word got out I had such a good curry base here I'd have a queue outside when I got home.  ;)

Next, is to make your madras with your base.
